The Universal Unix-Installer are 2 perl scripts that makes it easy to create a redistributable install package for binary executables on an unix platform(except Mac OSX). 1 perl script is for gathering the .so files 1 perl script for installing

Features

  • Installed applications gets integrated with the Graphical Environment
  • Applications can be installed localy under $HOME/.local/ and be integrated in the application menu(integration from local install does not work on Sun/Oracle Solaris, but works on OpenSolaris)
  • Bundles all libraries used by the application into the install package, but only installs the missing libraries to the end user
  • Option to install systemwide(install.pl system) or localy into the userprofile(install.pl local)
  • Place files wherever you want them on the system by putting them in the correct locations inside the files folder (files folder works as "/")
  • Works on sevral platforms! Tested on FreeBSD, Sun/Oracle Solaris, OpenSolaris, Linux (all under architectures x86, amd64, ARM, SPARC and CELL)
  • Script dependencies are: perl, ldd and perl findbin module
