USBHome

This script was written to solve a problem when converting Chromebooks to standalone Linux.

The eMMC cards built into Chromebooks are simply to small (typically 16-32 GB) to make them useful as computers. There are typically no expansion slots either to insert an M.2 or SATA drive.

Using this script, a USB drive of any size can be used to store the user's home directory.

Project Samples

1) Change the properties of the script. 2) Make the script executable.

3) Right click in an empty space, then "Open in Terminal".

4) Run the script (tab to autocomplete command). 5) Check for latest version of the script. 6) Remove all USB drives. 7) Choose a new username.

8) Enter a new password. 9) Confirm the new password. 10) Insert USB drive and wait for automount.

11) Automount successful. Close file browser window.

12) Note the location of the new drive (/dev/sdb1) 13) Format drive (/dev/sdb1) and wait! 14) Enter administrative (sudo) password. 15) Log out, then back in as new user.
