The Pianist Box features 256 polyphony CD quality real-time sound source. Commercial products either cost premium (e.g. USD5000 for a digital piano), low performance (e.g. 64 polyphony) and limited sounds (e.g. 128 non-replaceable instruments). The Pianist Box overcome these problem by highly optimizing open source system for a limited set of hardware.
