Nitrox is a free, open-source multiplayer modification for Subnautica that allows players to explore, survive, and build together in the game's underwater world. The mod introduces multiplayer functionality to the originally single-player survival game, enabling friends to connect through a client-server architecture and share the same environment. Nitrox synchronizes player movement, inventory interactions, world changes, and base construction so multiple players can collaborate on exploration and survival activities. The software supports shared underwater bases, furniture interactions, power management, and vehicle synchronization for the Seamoth, Prawn Suit, and Cyclops submarine. Players can communicate through an in-game chat system, view other players using dedicated HUD elements, and interact with synchronized objects throughout the game world. Developed as a community-driven project, Nitrox includes a dedicated launcher and continues to evolve with improvements to multiplayer.
