I started this project because I wanted a dead-simple blog. One that didn't need a database, used flat text files, and looked nice. It's main advantage is that it only requires PHP 5 and write permissions. There is no setup, just unzip and copy.

  • WTF! in sourceforge it says GNU General Public License version 2.0 (GPLv2) but running program it says Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 License.
  • Didn't work for me. It appears to have file locations messed up. For example, the "setup.php" file imports sb_functions, which attempts to import "config.php" and "sb_config.php"... except these are located in the ./scripts/... sub-directory so the whole thing crashes.
  • This software has problems the setup is simple but the website has a poor layout and the admin panel does not work.

  • The concept is brilliant but... simple??? First problem: I have tried this in 4 different server setups and none of them allow it to be placed in a subfolder. I do not like to clutter the root. In subfolder it did not resolve proberly when using the url. Blog came out non formated. Only way to see it properly was to use the IP-url which sucks big time. The only solution after 2 months of experimentation I hade to do what I did not want to do from the beginning, create subdomains. This how ever did not solve all the problems. Second problem: When done changes (entries and deletions) the relinking does not work properly. After comments are added a empty page .../comment_add_cgi.php comes up. Visitors does not apriciate this. On the web some really non interesting "1sb_view_counter_post" string appares in the post after the comment counter. When comment is deleted the user gets directed to ...comments.php but there is a / missing in the link between the domain and the file name in the url so it creates link error page. It looks like this "www.blog.comcomments.php" Not so cool. This hapend in many other scenarios to like when posting new entry...! Thirdly: The image linking for avatar and the top banner does not work properly in the preferences. To change avatar image in the web management one have to do this in "blocks" and to change the top I hade to replace the image “header750x100.jpg” in the themes image folder on the server. (PS Put a recomended image size by the upload for each image placement like "Avatar image recomended 160 px wide jpg ", "Blog header image 750x100 px jpg" etc...) I am no geek and I would not ask my self for advices when it comes to semi complicated computer issues but I would not call this blog script package simple. Simple, with no additional comments, in my world means that it is simple for any one in any situation not just simple for some in special situation. Sorry to say I like this blog because it basically has everything I want and need but I am prepared to pay good money for a as easy (as this was meant to be) but working blog. If you are like me and have not that much experience of setting up websites etc, I would advice you to not put your hopes up for this “simple” blog. Try it, it might work fine for you but do not put a whole project up depending on this without confirming it works for you.
  • Themes don't work, no CSS is loading and images don't load!
