Senpai Respin MX-25.3_Fluxbox for Raspberry Pi 3/4/5
I've created a personal respin with Fluxbox based on the MX-Linux version with Xfce for Raspberry Pi 3/4/5, so it can run on the Raspberry Pi 3 with just 1 GB of RAM. I’ve also tested this same image on my 8 GB Raspberry Pi 4, and it works perfectly. If you try it on the Raspberry Pi 5, please post your feedback on the MX forum.
The official version comes with Chromium and a minimal set of programs; I’ve only added the minimalist browser Dillo, a lightweight music player like Audacious, and the file manager PCmanFM.
To reduce RAM usage from the “MX-Service Manager,” I’ve disabled the services I don’t use—those related to “printers and Samba”—but they can be re-enabled without any issues...
Once the “.img” image is copied to the RPI, the system resizes itself on the first boot and starts with the “demo” username and ‘demo’ password. Before logging in, you can choose the keyboard and system languages. Once it’s up and running, you can remove any keyboards you don’t need using “system-keyboard-qt-launcher,” and create a new user with “mx-user.” From that account, delete the previous “demo” user to have a completely new and fully functional installation.
This wouldn’t be possible without the excellent MX-Linux distribution and the selfless help of its developers and users on the MX-Linux forum.
