Screen2ipcam 2.0.5 for Windows
Screen2ipcam turns the screen of a Windows PC into an ONVIF / RTSP IP camera. Your NVR, DVR or VMS discovers it like any network camera and records it next to your real cameras, so you keep a video record of what happened on a POS terminal, a kiosk, a control room PC or a monitoring station. No capture card, no HDMI encoder, no cloud service.

Which file do I download?
| File | For |
|---|---|
| Screen2ipcam_Setup_2.0.5_x64.exe | Modern PCs, Windows 64-bit. Start here. |
| Screen2ipcam_Setup_2.0.5_x86.exe | Windows 7, older PCs, embedded and POS machines, Windows 32-bit. |
| Screen2ipcam_Setup_2.0.5_WindowsServer_x64.exe | Windows Server edition, 64-bit: servers, POS terminals and shared PCs. |
| Screen2ipcam_Setup_2.0.5_WindowsServer_x86.exe | Windows Server edition, 32-bit: older 32-bit servers and POS machines. |
Not sure? Take the standard x64 file. Choose the Windows Server edition only for machines that must keep streaming while nobody is logged in (see below).
Running a 64-bit setup on a 32-bit Windows shows error 216. Use the x86 file instead.
New in 2.0.5
- Motion events over ONVIF. The recorder receives a motion event when the screen changes, so it can record only when something happens and save disk space. Optional, off by default. Works with recorders that support ONVIF motion events, which most do.
- Mouse pointer can be shown in the stream and in snapshots. Optional.
- Sound. The PC's own audio goes out with the video using the standard G.711 codec, so the recorder stores picture and sound together. Optional.
- On-screen name and clock. The camera name and the date and time can be drawn on the picture, each with its own corner, size and opacity.
- Test button for motion. Sends one motion event so you can check that the recorder reacts, without touching the screen.
- Easier license activation. The license text is accepted however you paste it, even on a single line, with clearer messages.
- VPN and multiple-network support built in. Pick the network address the camera answers on, so a recorder on a VPN or on a second network reaches it.
- Installs over your current version and keeps your license and settings.

The Windows Server edition
The same camera, built for machines that are not always logged in:
- Streams on the logon screen. After a reboot or a log off, the recorder still sees the screen. No "Video Loss" on the recorder.
- Fixed ports: RTSP 554, ONVIF 18000, web panel 13030.
- Remote Desktop aware. When a technician connects over RDP, the camera follows the active session and returns to the operator's screen when they disconnect.
- Web panel on a fixed port. Reachable from any PC on the network on port 13030, even while the machine sits on the logon screen.
- Silent install for many machines. Set up one installation the way you like, then in the License tab click Save settings to a file and name it
Screen2ipcam-settings.txt. Put that file next to the installer and run:
Screen2ipcam_Setup_2.0.5_WindowsServer_x64.exe /SILENT /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES
Works from any deployment tool or script. Each machine is licensed from the panel as usual.
- Same license as the standard edition.

Requirements
- Windows 7 SP1 to Windows 11, and Windows Server 2016 to 2025, 32-bit or 64-bit
- Nothing else to install: no .NET, no Java, no runtime packages
- The recorder must be able to reach the PC over the network (LAN or VPN)
Getting it into your recorder
- Run the setup. The Windows Firewall rule is added automatically.
- On the recorder: Add camera > ONVIF > Search, or enter it by hand: the PC's IP address, ONVIF port 8000 (18000 for the Windows Server edition), user
admin, passwordadmin. - Or use the RTSP address directly:
- Main stream:
rtsp://IP-ADDRESS:554/screenlive - Sub stream:
rtsp://IP-ADDRESS:554/screensub
Change the default password from the Users tab before using it on a real site.
To record on motion only: switch motion events on in the program, set the channel to motion recording on the recorder, then press the Test button and watch the recorder react.
If you get picture but no sound: set the recorder's audio compression to G.711Mu (G.711 u-law) and the audio source to Local. If the channel was added to the recorder before sound was switched on, remove the channel and add it again, because the recorder reads the camera's capabilities once, when the channel is created.
Trial and license
A fully functional 14-day free trial, no credit card. After that a one-time US$20 lifetime license per PC, no subscription and no renewal: https://magicweb.win/#pricing
Activation is offline. The license is tied to the PC, so reinstalling Windows does not break it.
