Proton LinUwUx

Proton LinUwUx provides custom Proton-GE and Proton-CachyOS builds integrating the LinUwUx compatibility layer for Wine/Proton.

Downloads

Two build families are currently provided:

• Proton-GE LinUwUx — based on GE-Proton
• Proton-CachyOS LinUwUx — based on Proton-CachyOS

Each release archive is accompanied by a .sha256 file for integrity verification.

Installation

Extract the downloaded Proton LinUwUx build into your Steam compatibility tools directory, restart Steam, and select the corresponding Proton LinUwUx build from the game's Compatibility settings.

For Steam Flatpak:

~/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/.local/share/Steam/compatibilitytools.d/

For native Steam:

~/.steam/root/compatibilitytools.d/

Verify Downloads

Download the .tar.gz archive and its matching .sha256 file into the same directory, then run:

sha256sum -c <filename>.sha256

A valid download will report OK.

Troubleshooting & Diagnostics

Current Proton LinUwUx builds include optional runtime diagnostics designed to help investigate compatibility problems and regressions.

When requested for troubleshooting, reproduce the issue with:

LINUWUX_DEBUG=1

and provide the resulting Proton log along with the game name, Proton LinUwUx build/version, Linux distribution, GPU/driver, and a description of the problem.
