wonderful void based distro. despite having to cook up kasha installer, it is very similar to calamares and handles disk partitioning well as it is able to preserve /home partition without losing data. I tried pepvoid (peppermintos void linux spin), they too cooked up their installer but it doesn't handle disk partitions properly as currently, I can't find a way to preserve /home partiton, retaining the data. I actually lost my data while trying pepvoid and yes it is still in beta stages but even void cli installer can preserve and use /home partitions. so? ...........................................................................................................................................................why 4/5? both times I tried nekovoid, when it was only one flavour - mate and later on the xfce flavour, kasha installer sya there is no internet and doesn't start despite my laptop having internet connection. my workaround was to find the location of the installer file and dragging it to a terminal, then executing from there, I do it till it starts... so, there should be a change where kasha installer works online, it there is internet connection and also offline, if there is no internet connection secondly, the openbox variant is not available yet and I would love the developer to incorporate openbox themes from bunsenlabs linux distro and if possible mabox colorizer from mabox linux distro, pleeeaassseeee... also, thanks for making xlibre avilable in your repoReply from Neko VoidEdited 2026-06-13
Hey, sorry about the connection problems. We switched the installer to online mode for now while we make it more stable so we can debug better. In one of the updates, by mistake the dev uploaded the file that downloads when there's an internet connection, he uploaded it with the wrong name. A few hours later we fixed it. Sorry if you had that issue, it's already solved. While we add new stuff and fix bugs, we'll keep the installer online. About the Openbox and Labwc thing, we're working on it to offer customization similar to BunsenLabs. We might pull some parts from BunsenLabs for that. Thanks a lot for your feedback. P.S. We have support tickets if you ever run into problems. We'll have the Openbox version ready as soon as possible, we're gonna force our devs to stay up all night customizing until we get it done. -

Of course, we need support to keep our repos running and so the devs don't starve. P.S. Most of us developers are from Venezuela and one of us is African, so any donation is well received. We're working on making several things easier that in Void Linux you have to do manually, like installing NVIDIA drivers, we're already sorting that out among other things.
