apus-lp-ramdisk.image20000622.gz NOTE: The LinuxPPC 2000 CD and apus-lp-ramdisk.image20000622.gz require a kernel (vmapus-2.2.10-000815.tar.gz) with support for the Mac filesystem (CONFIG_HFS). Please ensure that you can boot the test "ramdisk.image.gz" from linux-apus.sourceforge.net and that you can mount and access the HD or CD containing your RPMS. A typical mount command for a hardisk would be : mount -t affs /dev/hda1 /mnt/hd and a for a CD mount -t hfs /dev/hdb /mnt/cdrom LinuxPPC 2000 install ramdisk image "apus-lp-ramdisk.image20000622.gz" created from sources on the 1st LinuxPPC 1999 CD and libfdisk from m68k 5.2 beta on sunsite auc.dk Some kernel options on the boot command line are reported as unknown when Linux starts - ignore them (the installer extracts them from /proc/cmdline). The LinuxPPC CDs are now a (bootable?) Mac filesystem and no longer use the RedHat installer. The RedHat/base/hdlist is incomplete on the 2000 CD, it has to be built on the fly as if installing from HD. The 'Scanning for packages' phase takes significantly longer now Several RPMS are reported as missing, some are reported missing twice. After installing and rebooting edit /etc/sysconfig/keyboard KEYTABLE="amiga-us" KEYBOARDTYPE="pc" and edit /etc/sysconfig/mouse MOUSETYPE="BusMouse" Copy the System.map file from the vmapus kit to /boot directory replacing the existing file/link. Installing from a HD. --------------------- Your disk shoud have the following dir structure : /RedHat/RPMS/base/ /RedHat/RPMS/base/comps /RedHat/RPMS/base/hdlist <--- required but not used /RedHat/RPMS/ /RedHat/RPMS/setup-2.0.5-1.noarch.rpm <--- not sure if needed /software/ /software/*rpm <--- your rpm collection When asked for the path on the partition containing RPMS leave it at '/'. Or, to keep the install files together make a dir, say 'LinuxPPC', put the 'RedHat' and 'software' dirs in it, then make the path /LinuxPPC. (Not sure if RPMS/setup-2.0.5-1.noarch.rpm is required, mignt only be for the perl install script) Ken Tyler kent@werple.net.au
