Building High Quality ERP and Accounting Software for SMB & SMERead More
LedgerSMB is an ERP, featuring accounting (including AR, AP, and GL), quotation and order management, and more, for businesses with small to medium transaction volumes. The system has been shown to easily handle thousands of AR/AP transactions per week.
Data integrity, security, quality, and responsiveness are key values for our community, both among the developers and, we hope, the users. Additionally we aim to make LedgerSMB into a platform to integrate with, or even serve as a framework for building, other applications. We highly value community contributions and aim to stimulate growth through a broad community by actively providing support and documentation.
LedgerSMB began as a fork of SQL-Ledger, but we are working hard to replace the code we have inherited with code we think you deserve.

@k9fail I'm sorry to hear your frustration. Did you know about the possibility to run LedgerSMB from a Docker image, which takes no more than 3 bash commands to get running? Also, there's pretty much around-the-clock support in the LedgerSMB channel on Matrix (https: //vector.im/beta/#/room/#ledgersmb:matrix.org) as well as we're pretty active to respond on mail to the various project mailing lists. While we understand that the documentation may not be enough when you run into trouble, including the various failure cases would not help make the documentation more clear to those *not* running into these troubles. Could you please take the time to send us an e-mail or hop into the channel and explain to us which parts of our documentation is failing? Hopefully we can provide the next guy a better experience than we did for you...
Ugh. I'm so frustrated with this. I haven't even been able to install the software and get it up and running, which makes me sad because I would be more than willing to make a donation to the devs if they would just provide a working package that will do everything through synaptic or whatever (me, I'm on Linux Mint Rosa at the moment). A little about me: I'm an ex-IT pro so I'm fairly comfortable with doing a number of tasks via command line, but I'm also in the process of setting up a business which means all of my time and mental energy is being used for that. Therefore, yeah - I do need something geared towards total n00bs for this particular situation. Instead, I'm wading through loads of in-depth technical instructions that sadly require knowledge of things far beyond my scope, such as running and configuring PostgreSQL and Apache... which the Ledger install walkthroughs are useless for as soon as you encounter an issue. I know writing help files/manuals can get tricky, especially when you're in the thick of the project, but you really must approach these things as though you're explaining it to an 8 year old kid. Assume nothing about knowledge. This looks like a great application, I wholeheartedly thank the devs for their time and keeping the open source community going... but I'm sorry to say this one misses the mark. After 3 days of attempting to get this running, I'm throwing in the towel.
@nigmastar I am not sure why you had trouble finding support. The website ledgersmb.org has a good range of documentaion and FAQs. One of the FAQs details how to get support via the mailing lists and IRC There is also information on getting commercial Paid support as well. Regarding Installation, in the past, yes LedgerSMB was difficult to install. But for quite some time now there have been debian packages available at apt.ledgersmb.org If you don't want to install from a debian package, there is documentation in both README.md and INSTALL.md at the top of the install directory which should be sufficient for most people to get a system up and running. Keep in mind, this project has an extremely active development team, the improvements are being release regularly, often there is a new release every 2 to 3 weeks! I'm sorry you had trouble, but please come and ask some questions and I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised at how easy it can be.
Difficult to install and very bad support. Installation tutorial are not comprehensive and don't cover the whole process. I've seen projects abandoned for years much much easier to find support for.
Chinese is not support good.
