This is a fork and an update of the Debian Linux package called Grase. Grase was a rather popular independent package for hotspot management that went into hiatus. It uses captive portal technology for its functionality.
This application is intended to be used in environments where accountability and control of a captive portal hotspot would be appropriate, including environments where it is feasible to monetize access. It contains the features of self registration and user initiated paid subscriptions. It can also be run as a free hotspot. Cybercafes and coffee shops are the model environment for deployment, but there are others.
Basically any place that makes public Internet access available, and finds it to be potentially ripe for abuse, can use this package.

- Network requirements are quite sparse. Internet access is the only real requirement.
- The only hardware requirement beyond full Linux compatibility is two network cards.
- It will run on 1GB of RAM, 20GB storage, and any processor, past or present, supported by Debian Bookworm, Trixie, or Forky.
- The preview release is complete to alpha release. The OS needs to catch up to it for further testing.
- Source code is included, so anyone is free to migrate it to their development environment of choice, fork it, and support their fork.
- This goes way beyond a simple tethering capability (which can be accomplished with Bluetooth).
