This is a fork and an update of the Debian Linux package called Grase. Grase was a rather popular independent package for hotspot management that went into hiatus. It uses captive portal technology for its functionality. This application is intended to be used in environments where accountability and control of a captive portal hotspot would be appropriate, including environments where it is feasible to monetize access. It contains the features of self registration and user initiated paid subscriptions. It can also be run as a free hotspot. Cybercafes and coffee shops are the model environment for deployment, but there are others.
