Groan Autodeployer is a Windows executable that launches a Java application. It is configured using a string table embedded in the executable.

- Searches the user's registry and various environment variables to find existing Java installations
- Can use a bundled Java version in a local directory
- Can automatically download Java from a specified web server if it isn't found on the user's system
- Can enforce a minimum and/or maximum Java version
- Uses the best available Java version that meets the criteria
- Can run Java in the same process or a child process
- Can optionally embed a single (jar) file in the executable, that is automatically extracted when running
- Can set the working directory to the executable directory
- Developer can enable or disable DPI awareness
- Developer can specify whether to prefer high performance GPU on modern switchable graphics systems
