    I came into this project knowing nothing about *nix or Free*. I could not even spell CHOWN or CHMOD -- never mind know what they did and how to enter those cryptic parms. But without the help of a manual (after all these many years, where is it?) I was able to look around the web and figure out what I needed to know. It was tough but I did it and it is now up and running and about to go into a commercial environment with multiple shares. I even have R/W and R/O sharing on the same folder. That was reported as impossible but at least one but turns out to be easy. Little support but incredible software for free. Get Office on it and I will switch off of Windows! Mike Morrow

    Great Project. Tiny software footprint with great functionality. I love the fact that it includes the Torrent client and the UPnP server. Works great with the PS3.

    I like this program. It was easy to setup and has been running very reliably on some old hardware now for 2 months. Id like to see some support for the magic jack built into this.

    Great system! ZFS needs a little work for stability, but I think this will come when everything is ported to FreeBSD 8.0.

    I have used FreeNAS for about 2 years now and it is super! My thanks to all who create and support it. It's fun to tinker with too! It runs on older hardware just fine and has proven reliable for me.

    very compact little program with very little system requirements. Probably seems daunting to install for windows users, but once you put he CD into your drive installation is very easy and does not require any knowledge (you need to be able to read; that's it). The are a lot of resources on their website on how to install freenas and if that is not enough there are heaps pf youtube videos to guide you through installation. Great project.
