firstmate

firstmate is an agent distribution for coordinating a crew of coding agents through one primary agent. Instead of managing many sessions manually, users interact with a first mate that delegates work, supervises agents, and reports outcomes. Each crewmate can operate in a separate visible session and an isolated Git worktree to prevent parallel tasks from colliding. Work can be structured as implementation tasks that ship changes or scouting tasks that return investigation reports. Projects can use different merge and autonomy modes, while optional secondmates extend the crew across isolated local or SSH-reachable environments. Persistent on-disk state lets sessions recover and continue after interruptions.
