Fedberry is a Fedora Remix specifically built for use with Raspberry Pi® 2/3 Model B computers.

The major differences between Fedora arm releases as compared to FedBerry releases are:
• The use of our own custom kernels (using the Raspberry Pi foundation's bcm2709 kernel port).
• The use of Raspberry Pi foundation's own bootloader (ie. we don't use uboot).
• The use of swap files in lieu of swap partitions.
• tmpfs is enabled but size limited to 100M.
• The root partition is automatically expanded on first boot.
• Various RPi specific applications / software are included by default.
• To facilitate optional headless booting, a default root password is set in the 'minimal' release.

User Reviews

  • Hi I have installed Fedberry on one of two PI-3 units that I have. On the other I have installed Raspian. There are differences between the two as I examine them carefully. I notice that Raspian has RealVNC Server installed initially with the distro. On Fedberry I am struggling to get RealVNC Server installed. I could use one of the other VNC apps but I really prefer RealVNC. I had no real problems getting Fedberry installed as I simply followed the prescribed approach. I am going to use these PI-3s as System Control Units, eventually. I know that all applications are not currently available and I look forward to any new apps that are rolled out. Cheers... Robert
