Peppermint is an operating system that provides a user with the opportunity to build the system that best fits their needs. While at the same time providing a functioning OS with minimum hassle out of the box.
Our mainline desktop Peppermint ships with the desktop environment xfce with the thunar file manager set as default. Peppermint comes with nearly nothing installed other than, the core packages needed to run the system and you have the choice to which packages should best fit your build.
We do use the common process of continuous delivery, and we are based on the Debian/Devuan repositories.
Please post any questions about PeppermintOS to our Community Forum page: https://sourceforge.net/p/peppermintos/pepos/ and do our best to assist you.

I first discovered peppermintOne way back in 2010. First logged into a live USB session in June of that year, after microslop decided my pricey Toshiba Qosmio laptop was unworthy of the move to Win8. That move gave my Qosmio a new lease on life, ran like a top for years, far faster than it ever had on WinXP or the Win8 preview. While the team has changed thru the years since, peppermintOS's ease of usability and workflow has kept me loyal all of this time. In my early years, I used to distro-hop, but now like being settled into an environment which remains familiar whether it be built out on debian, devuan or void.Reply from PeppermintOS

Greetings PeppermintOs Dev team, Thanks for this awesome OS, it works like a charm on older computers. However, I've hit a snag with the PepMini-dev-amd64.iso installation in VirtualBox. I've been trying to install it in Virtualbox VM to check it out. The installation process runs smoothly, I select Cinnamon DE and standard utils, then proceeded by selecting the default init and installing grub after which the installation process hangs when it gets to "Finishing the Installation/ Running update-system" phase. I've tried this several times now, I've even tried downloading the ISO installation file again, allocating 6GB RAM, 2 CPUs and 20GB Disk space to the VM. I haven't had the same issue with the Debian version, though. Thanks Best RegardsReply from PeppermintOS

Peppermint OS honestly blew me away. After the passing of Mark Greaves (rest in peace), the team could’ve called it quits — but instead, they’ve been working their hearts out, and you can really feel the love and effort in every update. I’m running this on an old laptop I thought was basically e-waste — and somehow, it’s alive again. Not just working... thriving. I even got a pretty heavy game running at 60FPS, which I never expected on this hardware. Like i mean it won't even run Minecraft in 9 fps (same world, same version), now it's even running at 60+ fps. The system feels super clean, minimal, and surprisingly fast. No bloat, no nonsense — just what I need, and nothing I don’t. That kind of philosophy is rare these days, and I respect the hell out of it. It may not be the most "popular" distro out there, but trust me — Peppermint deserves way more attention. It's stable, modern, and brought my old machine back to life. Huge respect to the devs for keeping Mark’s legacy going strong. You all are doing amazing.Reply from PeppermintOS
