Eagle Mode is a zoomable user interface (ZUI) with file manager, file viewers, games, and more.
This project is about a futuristic style of human-computer interaction, where the user can visit almost everything simply by zooming in. It features a portable C++ toolkit API for developing such ZUIs, and it features the Eagle Mode application, which provides a virtual cosmos with plugin applications.
The most important one is the professional file manager with its rich, scriptable command set. It integrates file viewers for most of the common file types, as well as an audio and video player. Furthermore, the virtual cosmos contains a chess game, a netwalk game, a 3D minesweeper game, a world clock, some fractal fun, and a Linux kernel configurator in form of a kernel patch.
Eagle Mode runs best on Linux, but there is also a light version for Windows, which lacks some of the plugins.
- Fast anti-aliased graphics
- Virtually unlimited depth of zooming
- Extensive mouse and keyboard control
- Animated navigation with kinetic effects (inertia, friction, and magnetism)
- Popup-zoomed control views
- Editable bookmarks
- In-place help texts
- Working with multiple windows

I also use Windows 8.1 and have successfully installed this amazing project. Olha tells you that not all of the facilities are available in Windows but I amd going to set one of my old laptops up with Linux and see what more it can do. Well done Olha!
Using MSWindows 8.1. I see just scripts. Looking for a file manager need a startup file to execute. .exes in binary files say that miss dlls. Hardous to trust in aplication without control.
I haven`t ever used so stable open source software.
I use almost every day! A great project! Thank you!
After reading the well-written usage tutorial, this quickly became one of my favorite programs. It's very well-made, includes many features, with one of my favorite being that you can quite easily make plugins to add features it might not have yet! It also has great documentation and fast responses on the forums! It's awesome! :D
