  • Thank you very much for the free open source program!
  • useful tools but with some serious bugs。 1. I use it for sync the svn file, but the folder named transactions and the folder named txn-protorevs isn't sync to encrypt at all(Are they empty file caurse this?)! 2.When finish sync(from unencrypted to encrypeted only),I delete the encrypted folder, and run the cryptsync tool again, but it does not work, the encrpted folder has not revovered!
  • Great product and does what I was looking for. I use dropbox and want a local layer of encryption before uploading. Some online monetized services aim to fill the same need but I'm happier to use this as it's easy to see what's going on and there is no mysterious background interaction with an online service in the process
  • Love it. I only wish it supported file splitting, since 7z supports it and some cloud providers limit the file size.
  • Brilliant! I had the same idea a few month before. Creating a Sync-Toy and using 7zip for the encryption. Now I found this...good that I was too lazy yet ;)
  • It solved my big problem to sync massive files to SharePoint 2013 document library. Microsoft's OneDrive for Business is a s*** and Cryptosync worked perfectly by designating the document library path (like \\server\doclib )as the target folder(encrypted,or not if you exclude the files with *.* filter). To work with Sharepoint, you'd better keep the FAT workaround option on. A major bug is that CryptSync doesn't remove empty folders, and it leaves empty folders on both ends of the pairs, and if any intermediate folder in a path is empty, the entire path is not syncronized. My solution to this is a small program to fill every empty folder in a deep path with a zero-size file so that these path could be synced and this seems to have enabled a controllable syncing flag, and it's funny too. otherwise, I see only some minor bugs that don't bother at all,and i'd expect the UI provide more options to work with synchronization, such as to disable/enable certain pair temporarily, and a checkbox to disable encryption with a click is better, and the log text may be improved to provide more details...

  • I evaluated many client-side encryption tools for secure cloud storage: boxcryptor, cloudfogger, cryptomator.. etc; this is by far the simplest, most robust tool I have used. The simple file sync feature that mirror two folders (the original folder and the encrypted one) seems so simple, yet it is the most powerful feature that's completely lacking in other comparable tools. Using 7zip is just brilliant because not only it can encrypt the files, but also reduces the size. You can also install ZArchiver (or other similar android apps that ONLY have local permissions and are able to open 7zip).. that way you can open your cryptsync encrypted files on your phone. This is a great tool. Please keep us the great work!
  • Simple and excellent. I use it extensively and no issues were encountered. I use it to sync folders on several machines using the cloud, as well as using the cloud for secure backup.
  • For home NAS users, this is perfect. No good using Bitlocker on your drives if your NAS copies are in the clear, and only file level encryption is really useful for home NAS purposes. 7-Zip is the most portable and compatible strong encryption format available (basic ZIP being pretty weak), and CryptSync is the key to making it cover that NAS sized security hole in the home. This utility is essential for every home NAS and should come pre-loaded. It is almost perfect, though the documentation regarding 'FAT file system workaround' could be improved (ie. some should be written). Why doesn't everyone know about this utility? Way better than Axcrypt and other options, CryptSync is even better than NAS manufacturer solutions from the more premium brands, because the portability of the files is unparalleled. 7-Zip use means that CryptSync files can be opened almost anywhere. CryptSync is a must-have download for every home NAS user.
  • I would love Cryptsync, however it fills up my C drive with temporary files. Someone raised a ticket to this effect, which was answered with it being 7zip's fault and not Cryptsync's problem. I would have thought Cryptsync could purge these. As it is I have to stop using it, which is a shame.
  • Excellent tool to encrypt your files on the cloud. Advantage compared to similar tools: 1. You don't need an account. Just know your password and you're good to go. 2. It uses 7zip to do the encryption, not some special format, so the encrypted file is highly portable. 3. Unlike tools like TrueCrypt and VeraCrypt, files are encrypted individually, so it's easily updated on the cloud, and you can fully utilize the version history feature of your cloud storage service.
  • Really cool tool ! This greatly simplifies my evernote workflow: I use the encrypted folder as evernote import folder and drop all my documents into the cryptsync input folder instead. The only feature I would like is the opposite of the current file filter, that I can specify wich files should be encrypted because my default is unencrypted...
  • Perfect program, no problems at all! Thank you very much!
  • I like it, simple and easy to use. However, for the file filtering: can I specify only include the files I want (encrypted or not doesn't matter)? I have lots of other compiled files with so many names/extensions. It's a endless list to ignore. Thanks,
  • Very easy and interesting tool. It works fine with 1 PC and a cloud service. But it doesn't work with 2 and more PC's. Is not implemented or maybe I do something wrong? How I tested it: On PC1 I have the original folder O1 and encrypted terget Folder T1. On PC2 I have folder O2 and T2. O1/T1 and O2/T2 are syncronized by CryptSync; T1/T2 are synchronized by e. g. Dropbox. Test 1: A new file is stored in the folder O1. CryptSync put this file (encrypted) into the folder T1. Dropbox put this file into the folder T2. CryptSync put this file (decrypted) into the folder O2. It works fine. Test 2: A flie was deleted in the folder O1. CryptSync delete this file in the folder T1. Dropbox delete this file in the folder T2. Na dhere is the issue: CryptSync doesn't delete this file in the folder O2! CryptSync put this file from O2 into the T2, Dropbox put this file into the T1 and finally the CryptSync put this file again inot the folder O1. So it's not possible to delete any file from the oroginal folder. I would tate with *****, if it would be possible to delete files also. Bst regards Victor
