Claude Status Bar is a free, open-source macOS menu bar utility that displays live Claude Code activity without opening a separate dashboard. It uses an animated icon to indicate when Claude is thinking, executing commands, or using tools. A yellow indicator appears when a session requires user permission. An optional timer displays how long the current operation has been running. Users can choose from several animation styles, including a spinning symbol, animated spark, pixel-art crab, and orbiting dots. The application monitors multiple sessions and prioritizes those awaiting attention. It supports Claude Code in terminals, the desktop Code tab, and compatible Cursor integrations. Automatic session detection launches the indicator when needed and closes it when no sessions remain active.
