  • Until I found BVRDE I was mostly using a mix of Xming servers, PuTTY, network shares, Samba, KVM switches, and just about every other darned thing to do cross-platform development. I still do need to use all those but I can now work for hours on end without leaving BVRDE. The graphical GDB interface is a real benefit. If I used a debugger more I might find limitations in the GUI, but one can break into the debug session to issue GDB commands directly if necessary. I know there is a strong anti-vi flavour to some of the promotional bumph on the web site. As a power vi-user I find the Scintilla editor quite lame but I never saw an IDE editor I liked yet, so I won't single BVRDE out for special criticism in that department. My only grumble is that the documentation is cursory and clearly a work in progress with "xxx" placeholders here and there. Fortunately the tool works well and it's not too hard to work out how to do things. I am not aware of any support resources. Partly that is because I haven't needed any, but it is a bit of a worry. Very useful tool; definitely 4+ stars in my book.
  • Excellent application
  • Good work:)
  • Excellent......
  • Very useful for Unix C/C++ developer who don't want to use X-Windows. Faster than Eclipse, KDevelop.
