  • Unusably bad. Stuck in the past. I want to find a good cross-platform replacement for VSCode, but this is not it. It's blinding white, and even forcing dark mode doesn't work: <key>NSRequiresAquaSystemAppearance</key> <string>false</string> It's stuck decades behind. We've had dark Mode forever, and it's not just cosmetic, it's a necessity for vision issues, especially a code editor, where we will stare for hours at the screen. The brew install is dead, so I had to download the DMG from the website. I cannot even test it further, when I can't look at it.

Dark mode does work fine on Linux, but I see you are working on OSX. There are no developers working on OSX specific code, so the OSX packages is missing specific OSX integration code. Feel free to contribute the missing code to make dark mode work on OSX.
  • I cannot seem to find the most useful feature it should have. compare / split screen / dual view what else could it be called? can't find a way to ask via support, create ticket is grayed out, FB is dead, but link is still there.

In the menu Document->Split view or Document->Side by side ?
  • Excellent editor to use as a general purpose text editor or as part of an IDE. The bookmarks feature to bookmark areas within files is unique, powerful, and extremely useful. Bluefish provides a pane that displays your bookmarks to quickly move to different sections within your files. It is my favourite feature. Thank you for Bluefish!
  • the editor with the best balance between speed and features
  • My first website editor was Kompozer, later Dreamweaver and at last BlueGriffon. I started using Bluefish in version 2.2.12 on macOS Mojave and created a responsive website during an advanced education. This version had a somehow cluttered toolbar, but it worked fine for me, and I got familiar with it after a short time. One week ago I tried the 2.2.13beta1 and really love its tidy GUI, which is a large improvement over the predecessor in my opinion. If I could wish for something, it would be configurable shortcuts like in GIMP. But that's whining at the highest level. The search for a new editor is over, Bluefish is definitely my favorite and number one and will remain so! Many thanks to the developers for providing precompiled Binaries for macOS!
  • Never got past the configure stage. Too many missing or out of date dependencies. Not worth bothering with. MacOS Sierra, I know it's old but not had as much trouble with other software.
  • Thank you very much for the free open source program!
  • Version 2.2.10 for Windows is easy to use but still has some drawbacks.
  • Very good editor. Minus for rare updates. Could You add some multi edit feature and linking between (or passing through) classess/methods?
  • I should have noticed that this app is over 8 years old. I also should have read all the reviews that mention that it doesn't work on Windows. Even on my Windows 7 machine it doesn't INSTALL much less WORK. No wonder why you never see this mentioned along with Sublime nagware and Atom-the-killer-of-resources. How bloody sad the world of editors.

  • Excelente!
  • Program don't work on W8.1 64bit :(
  • Works on Linux (Debian, LMDE, Mint, Ubuntu) together with FileZilla, but: Minus - new instance instead of new tab on opening one more file is awful! -> How to modify this behaviour? - *.shtml (html/xhtml with SSI) not recognized as html/xhtml -> what about using html doc type? Plus + Good HTML "Any ... Tag ..." feature + German Translation included + eye-friendly syntax highlighting for (x)html, css, etc. + color picker + project manager (not tested) + ... Please ! add *.shtml to html syntax sheme (user defined would be great) - add contact form for non-facebook users -> or should I treat the Minus as "bug" an report it? Please have a look at medit programmers/text editor project (mooedit) on SF.net Many Tnx for Your Work. EDVauler
  • This program install broke 2 of my windows based system. I thought it may have been a fluke the first time. It associated *.vbs files with Bluefish.exe and my computers did not like this. Currenly I dislike this program because of this. DO NOT INSTALL IT AT LEAST IN WINDOWS. I installed Bluefish in both Windows XP and Windows 8.0 and it created problems that took me hours to fix. The program also crashed when I used it too. Take it off this website!!!
  • Program is good but it broke with new Apple IOS Mavericks. When will this be fixed?
  • flexible and glitzy editor for ppl who code. works fine on *nix. i can x forward it over ssh from a *nix server to my desktop, it's stable enuf for that, which is pretty good. not as fast as gedit, but has more features. vi and emacs are pains in the a**, so i prefer bluefish for web development. good for that in particular. if you need help to build a site from windows, try visual studio express for web, free from micro$oft. if you're hardcore but hate terminal editors that force you to remember a million ctrl+ sequences, bluefish is probably something you'd like. conclusion: good editor.
  • Bluefish has great potential, but bugs and crashes during typical use are killing it.
  • Thanks very good project! +
  • Bluefish works great.

  • Good and useful software
  • Every time I try to download the Windows version I get a "Malware Detected" alert.
  • good tool for programmers, thanks
  • Bluefish has been a great help for me and my projects. I think I will be using it for a long time.
  • I maintain a web site for both Windows and Linux users - having both versions makes it easy. I really like the addtion of HTML5 to version 2.2.2! Great Job! The only addition I can think of would be a popup menu for special characters.
  • Brilliant piece of software
