Version 3.0.2
Minor changes since v3.0.1 include improvements to the user interface:
- added shortcut keys for menu items
- improved keyboard navigation of the main interface to ensure selected fields are highlighted
- Mac OS X default close window shortcut (cmd-w) now supported
- regions in the result tables now are displayed as hyperlinks that will open the given region in UCSC genome browser
- fixes an issue where a timed-out mysql connection could not longer reconnect to the UCSC database, necessitating a restart of the application
- added a .jar bundle for those who prefer not to install the full application
AUTOPRIMER3
Automatically design primers to genes or coordinates. AutoPrimer3 can connect to any UCSC genome and design PCR/sequencing primers to genes or genome coordinates.
Versions are available for Mac OSX (tested on Yosemite), Windows (tested on Windows 7) and Linux (tested on Arch, Ubuntu 14.04 and CentOS 7). Only 64-bit operating systems are supported for the standalone applications. For other systems try using the JAR file
INSTALL
64 bit systems only
Linux: Download the AutoPrimer3-3.0.2-1.x86_64.rpm (for RPM-based distros - e.g. CentOS), autoprimer3-3.0.2.deb (for DEB based distros, e.g. Ubuntu) or AutoPrimer3-3.0.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz (Arch Linux) depending on your system and install via your package manager (e.g. sudo dpkg -i autoprimer3-3.0.2.deb) or, if your distribution supports it, by double-clicking the downloaded package.
Mac OS X: Download the AutoPrimer3-3.0.2_macOSX.dmg disk image. Double click to open the downloaded file and drag the AutoPrimer3 application into your Applications folder where it can be opened by double clicking. On recent versions of Mac OS X you will need to access the 'Security & Privacy' settings in System Preferences to allow this app to be opened.
Windows: Download the AutoPrimer3-3.0.2_installer.exe installer application. Double click the downloaded file and follow the instructions to install. This will also launch AutoPrimer3 once installed. To launch in future it should be accessible from the Start menu->All Programs->AutoPrimer3. AutoPrimer3 will be installed to C:\Users[Your Username]\AppData\Local\AutoPrimer3\AutoPrimer3.exe.
UNINSTALL
Linux: Uninstall via your package manager (e.g. sudo apt-get remove autoprimer3).
Mac OS X: Drag the AutoPrimer3 application from your Applications folder to the recycle bin.
Windows 7: AutoPrimer3 should be installed to 'C:\Users[Your Username]\AppData\Local\AutoPrimer3\AutoPrimer3.exe'. To uninstall double-click the 'unins000.exe' file in this location. You can also access this location by right-clicking the AutoPrimer3 application from the Start menu, selecting 'Properties' and clicking the 'Open File Location' button in the resulting window.
AutoPrimer3 also stores a small amount of data (~2MB) in a folder called .AutoPrimer3 within your home folder. Manually delete this folder if you want to remove all traces of AutoPrimer3 from your machine.
JAR FILE
To use the jar file download the AutoPrimer3_v3.0.2_jar.zip file and unzip. The jar can be run as normal (e.g. java -jar AutoPrimer3.jar) as long as it remains in the same folder as the enclosed 'lib' directory. Java version 1.8.0_20 or higher is required
