A new iPhone SDK binary has been released and we need beta testers to help try it out in their environment. Remember, we go through this beta process before each new release of the SDK. The more of you that help test out these betas, the higher the quality of the releases will be! Changes in this release: * Better interface orientation support * Better support for embedding ZBarReaderView in a custom view/controller * Emulation for UIImagePickerController camera device and flash mode properties * Explicit support for Xcode 4 and Interface Builder * More examples * Miscellaneous new features and bug fixes Other notes: * This SDK should run correctly on the iPad 2, but you're on your own optimizing the camera for use in your specific application * We also cannot help you with iOS 5 until after its public production release * EAN/UPC addon support is still not complete (disabled by default) You can find the latest disk image on the FRS: http://sourceforge.net/projects/zbar/files/iPhoneSDK/beta If you do try out this new SDK version, please follow up in the forum with your experience (positive or negative): https://sourceforge.net/projects/zbar/forums/forum/1072195/topic/4575678 Thank you for your help! -spadix |

iPhone Developers using ZBar- iOS 4 offers several exciting enhancements for applications using ZBar - specifically of interest are the direct access to capture frames and continuous auto-focus. With the public release of iOS 4, the NDA covering the APIs has been lifted and we can finally push our integration with these new features! Combined with a few other recent improvements, the new library offers higher frame rates, shorter decode times, fewer rejections and support for smaller and longer symbols than before. Clone the Mercurial repository to access the latest code: http://zbar.hg.sourceforge.net:8000/hgroot/zbar/zbar The current tip is revision 4bb6f030bb2c Follow the tutorial on the wiki to integrate a barcode reader with your app: http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/zbar/index.php?title=HOWTO:_Add_a_barcode_reader_to_an_iPhone_app Post feedback and discuss these changes in the ZBar iPhone Developer Forum: http://sourceforge.net/projects/zbar/forums/forum/1072195 The new integration has been well tested by other users with their apps, so expect it to be relatively stable at this point. If you do encounter any problems, please drop us a line in the forum. -spadix |
