One way of going about would to use diff to see the differences between the original config and the tuner's. Maybe the tuner tool was kind enough to log it's changes? That might also work. My best guess would be that $tuner optimised the config for a certain kind of usage (number of connections, kind of connections (long/short connections, timeouts)), whereas Zabbix's differs from that. Judging by the error text, it looks like both programs using different protools, but then the 30 minutes doesn't make sense. I'm guessing some time out error or suchlike. Mvg, Guus Snijders |

Good Morning I am having a strange problem with a new Zabbix 3.4.3 install. After 30 mins it seems the Zabbix server stops updating the database. I have a CentOS 7.4 running on an older dell server, It has 23GB ram, Raid 5 SCSI disk with tons of space: [cid:image008.png@01D34E34.E8CA6300] The MySQL database is /home/mysql. I have php version 5.6.31 My system has: [cid:image009.png@01D34E35.4440D890] I have use the mysqltuner.pl to make adjustments in the my.cnf. I can login to the database after the Zabbix starts failing. If I restart the Zabbix server it starts back working, if I restart the MySQL there is no change. The only error message I have found is in the mysql.log file: [Note] Aborted connection 19 to db: 'zabbix' user: 'zabbix' host: 'localhost' (Got an error reading communication packets) There will be 100's of these. The zabbix-server processes are still running as well as the MySQL. Looking in the Zabbix server log it looks normal, like the Zabbix does not know there is a problem, but of course the web interface starts triggering on it is not seeing agent connections after 5 mins (in my case I set this to 15 to cut down on network traffic, this is a WAN install) If I look at the server performance graphs you can see that one by one the items fall out, not like all at one time, it dies a slow death. "Just good enough, is not good enough!" I suspected as much. I will build from source on the Pi and use the repos for the server. I have 7 of these that I am deploying so not too much effort. Thank you so much! I have a few things going on here... I am very new to zabbix so please bear with me. I have been bashing my head against google and the docs for a week trying to figure this out. If I am asking a question that has already been asked and/or answered please refer me to the post and I will go read - but I am just stumped. Setup: Zabbix Server (MYSQL) running on Debian 9 installed from the Zabbix repos (3.4.2) Zabbix Proxy (SQLite) is running on Debian 9 on a raspberry pi installed from Raspbian repos. (3.0.7) the Zabbix repository didn't have an arm version that would install that I could find. - suggestions on this? The server is monitoring just fine - no issues there. When I setup the proxy the first error I did was put in the wrong fqdn and even though it has been fixed I keep getting the following in the logs 84686:20171004:111148.057 cannot send list of active checks to "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx": host [Remote] not found - that is correct I messed up but I can't seem to get that to stop. Is there a way to stop it trying to send to the wrong place or does the cache just need to expire? The server is sending the config data it appears to be working just fine. 84685:20171004:111400.480 sending configuration data to proxy "ZabbixProxy1" at "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx", datalen 12402 However the active proxy is giving this on the other end. 25758:20171004:181501.131 received configuration data from server at "FQDN", datalen 12402 25758:20171004:181501.153 failed to update local proxy configuration copy: invalid field name "items.jmx_endpoint" I suspect this is due to the Zabbix version differences. Is there a way to get them to play nice? Is there a PI Zabbix-agent on the repository that I am missing? Do I need to down grade my server to 3.0.x? |

I unfortunately don't have the code anymore... But at my previous employer I had a similar issue. The answer was that I created a small php script that if sent a Zabbix hostname, would return a Zabbix proxy IP. So if a host needs to zabbix_sender something, it calls http://zabbixweb/whichproxy.php?host=somehost and the whichproxy.php script does the lookup on the back-end which returns an IP that zabbix_sender can use. It's an extra step and if there's a large number of individual senders happening it could pile up and cause a slowdown, but it was the best solution I could come up with. I suppose if a volume problem started happening, cacheing on the client lookups might help... Hope this helps. Hi guys, On top of the normal monitoring use, we are also using zabbix as a communication channel to inject the history about some customer related values (like current backup storage used for a virtual machine) into the database. Then, we consume those values from REST to generate billing and other reports for a given Zabbix host. We inject those values on dedicated items for a given host (those values must be processed by some scripting/db/... before being send to the Zabbix item. In some case, the script which run and compute the values is not running in the same environment, (not even the same datacenter) that the target host. Zabbix_sender fails and doesn't accept the new value since it's coming from another Zabbix proxy that the one attached to the target Zabbix host. That seems normal since the proxy doesn't have the items for this host, he cannot handle it. So now, I was thinking about injecting those values directly from the Zabbix server (since it has everything it needs to compute this value). But zabbix_sender also fails if I try to send directly to Zabbix server and not to the proxy attached to the host. Is there any workaround about that ? or planned change around this ? Thanks for your help !. Frédéric Beuserie. |

Hi, I merged source code changes of 3.4.1 to 3.2 to make 3.2 upgraded to 3.4.1, Then i run 1>./configure --enable-server --enable-agent --with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql_config --enable-ipv6 --with-net-snmp --with-libcurl --with-libxml2 The above command goes through fine. 2>make fails with error ./configure: line 10288: syntax error near unexpected token `no' ./configure: line 10288: ` LIBEVENT_CHECK_CONFIG(no)' Please let me know the fix. Hey all, There are Zabbix setups with more that 100K of hosts (millions of metrics and triggers) monitored by a single Zabbix Server. You may check presentations from Zabbix to get some references. Information from 2012 does not represent current state of Zabbix abilities. Evan, I think it's worth to communicate directly to Zabbix Company in order to get a valuable official advice on possible solutions for your specific case. Thanks. 1 million will be reached , half of it of course. the point is single instance of zabbix server is neither reliable nor effective. a compromise solution as below : (groups of agents + 1 zabbix sever(failover) ) * N deffects: 1.same concern 2.many zabbix server failover clusters to operate zabbix or its backend db is not the bottleneck as it's just for alert triggers and metric data kept in 3rd places, with mq located in frontend. I think what you want to do is create Host Groups[1] that group your servers however you want (By location, operating system, whatever). You can then create Aggregate checks[2] based on the host group and a common item that all the hosts in the group have. For example: grpmax["Linux Servers", "system.cpu.load[,avg1]", last] That will give you a single value: the maximum CPU load from all your servers. > So I guess what I'm looking for, is just something like "please give > me a list of hosts in hostgroups x,y with severity > n" and then feed > that to a service (formerly IT service). I'm doing this from memory!) and "aggregate_name" is the name of the aggregate you created above. Once you create the trigger it will activate if any host in the host group goes over a CPU load of 5. Hope this helps! Shane. I have no idea how he did this exactly, but it's worth checking out. Joost |

I think it's doable. So I guess what I'm looking for, is just something like "please give me a list of hosts in hostgroups x,y with severity > n" and then feed that to a service (formerly IT service).[...] That's is *exactly* what the triggers in Zabbix are all about. The syntax can be a bit tricky sometimes, possibly I haven't spend enough time with those, though. In our case, we use those triggers for quick status views. Details can be looked up from our workstations (saved my butt a couple of times already). We use the webpages for the monitoring, but I guess you could create a status screen in Zabbix with just the data you are looking for. [...] Well, the thing aobut the pi was really just some extra information as of how I want to do this. It's not really relevant to the question, which was how I can extract info about (host and its services) and see if it's a warning or not. The dashboard does this, but I don't know if the accumulation is within the dashboard or in the core. I haven't yet tried to read to read the code, but I think the triggers are calculated by the database. In theory it should be possible to query the DB directly for them. Could be tricky to resolve all the correct host/group names, though. That's partially why I suggested the HTML scraping. That way, most of the hard work is done by Zabbix itself :). Might even work between updates of the Zabbix version... As for the graphical verification, I guess a 50" monitor beside the "DEFCON" scale will do the job rather wall. :) We use a TV that's slightly smaller, but other then that, it's the same setup. I did find that a slide show (status screen, map, some graphs), is a bit easier on the eyes. But that may be personal. And, okay, I've had a burned-in screen before (crt). Even when turned off, the ghost of the logo was still there. What do you think? If you can spend some time on it: do it. Personally I find myself often tweaking the screens a little; adding some info, deleting some others. Great fun, actually! Oh, I also found I preferred the dark theme on the TV; makes the lighter colours better visible. Mvg, Guus Snijders |

Hi all My boss has a vision of sorts. He wants a rating showing him the current condition of our servers and their services as a whole. He told us he wanted a very simplified "green, yellow or red light", but I guess a numeric scale (1-5 or so) might be better. With a raspberry pi and some LEDs (and drivers), it shouldn't be too hard to even have physical displays showing this. I'm looking at 'services' and it seems to be somewhat what I'm looking for, but I don't understand how I can aggregate a bunch of tests for a varying bunch of hosts and their services. We currently have around 300 servers, somewhat 60/40 linux/windows, and new ones pop up as old ones no longer in use are discarded quite regularly. Hi, MPLS is a data carrying mechanism for high performance telecommunication network. How can i monitor MPLS LSP + ldp using zabbix and snmp. Currently is there code available. I need to record the hops for a particular LSP. Also the source and destination router id. Thanks, Jayshankar |

Hello, The progress is written in the zabbix server log : "The start and progress level (percentage) of the database upgrade is written to the Zabbix server log file. - https://www.zabbix.com/documentation/3.4/manual/installation/upgrade" Maybe you could use it to solve your problem. I hope that it will help you. Hi Florent If I remember correctly, the zabbix-server log would print the status of the upgrade. Hello, I've made a document on how to create a highly available Zabbix environment, with a clustered database and a clustered Zabbix application server. The document can be found at http://sanguis.xs4all.nl/zabbix/Zabbix_HA_on_LEAP_42.3.pdf. Please let me know if you find errors or see improvements. Joost |
