Hi all, I am consistently observing high CPU load caused from Zabbix server trapper. When checking with strace the busy PIDs I get a flood with following messages: poll([{fd=5, events=POLLIN}], 1, -1) = 1 ([{fd=5, revents=POLLIN|POLLHUP}]) poll([{fd=5, events=POLLIN}], 1, -1) = 1 ([{fd=5, revents=POLLIN|POLLHUP}]) poll([{fd=5, events=POLLIN}], 1, -1) = 1 ([{fd=5, revents=POLLIN|POLLHUP}]) poll([{fd=5, events=POLLIN}], 1, -1) = 1 ([{fd=5, revents=POLLIN|POLLHUP}]) poll([{fd=5, events=POLLIN}], 1, -1) = 1 ([{fd=5, revents=POLLIN|POLLHUP}]) poll([{fd=5, events=POLLIN}], 1, -1) = 1 ([{fd=5, revents=POLLIN|POLLHUP}]) poll([{fd=5, events=POLLIN}], 1, -1) = 1 ([{fd=5, revents=POLLIN|POLLHUP}]) The issues is temporarily fixed by restarting the Zabbix server. I have compiled Zabbix from source and I have been using it like this since version 2.X without issues. Now I am running 3.4.8. Any clues? Thanx, Alex |

Hi all, Is there a way to create Predictive items in Zabbix? Especially for Disk Space? I was only able to find Predictive Triggers, not items. I'm using Zabbix 3.4. Cheers! Regards, Lucas Possamai > lpossamai.com |

Hi, I've got a Zabbix 3.4 server and I'm trying to get a trigger working over a VPN Connection on my Cisco ASA. Basically, I am monitoring the ASA's VPN connections with Zabbix. Then, if there is no traffic on that VPN at 2AM I would like to get notified. I've tried to create a calculated item to sum the Network usage at 2AM, but it is not working. You can check all I've done/tried on this post <https://www.zabbix.com/forum/zabbix-help/363145-calculated-item-not-working-zabbix-3-4> . - Created a calculated item to sum the Network usage at 2AM (Not working) As I haven't got any help I thought I'd post it here. Thanks in advance! Cheers! Lucas |

Hi all, I am trying to get a trigger working <https://www.zabbix.com/forum/zabbix-help/361465-trigger-cisco-asa-not-working-properly> between two times period. For example, If between 4am and 5am there hasn't been any traffic over the VPN, then triggers an alert. I've been trying to do it like: {Cisco_ASA_2:query_lan2_lan_cisco_final.pl["public","192.168.9.254","ASA","get","TX","201.201.201.201"].max(1h)}=0 and {Cisco_ASA_2:query_lan2_lan_cisco_final.pl["public","192.168.9.254","ASA","get","TX","201.201.201.201"].time(0)}>040000 and {Cisco_ASA_2:query_lan2_lan_cisco_final.pl["public","192.168.9.254","ASA","get","TX","201.201.201.201"].time(0)}<050000 but it is not working. The alert gets triggered even if there has been traffic over that VPN. I am using Zabbix 3.4. Does anybody have any tips on this? Cheers! Lucas |

Hi all, I would like to get the Web Scenario Step Name on my trigger's name... i.e: Failed step {STEP.NAME} on host {HOST.NAME]. I couldn't find anything about it online... Is it possible to have something like that? I'm using Zabbix 3.4. Cheers! Lucas |

It's mine. Not only NVPS determine Zabbix performance. NVPS cannot be calculated Active Item such as Log. Dear all, I`m having some issue with a multiple zabbix-server env. Let me explain a bit about the setup. We have 3 DB server what will react as 1 clustered DB, all in master mode. based on maxscale we decides witch DB we will write a event. For separation for the DB we use: *auto_increment_offset = xx for each node When failing over from zabbix-server A to zabbix-server B my zabbix-log will show mee a lot of Duplication enty to the insert a event and whitch will eventuely failes the sync between databases Changed the following tables to use AUTO_INCREMENT so each db nodes will write a uniq event to each node: CREATE TABLE `alerts` ( `alertid` bigint(20) unsigned NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, CREATE TABLE `events` ( `eventid` bigint(20) unsigned NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, CREATE TABLE `trends_uint` ( `itemid` bigint(20) unsigned NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, Now the sync seems to be standing, but stil getting duplicate eventsID when a event is generated. This will also meen that a will miss a event and both active servers will not see that one of the servers is down. The question is how does zabbix-server writes his event to the database , how does zabbix-server determines with eventid to give the event. Is there a way to make theise id uniq when writing to the DB -- Met vriendelijke groet, M. Hello Jan, as far as I know, "Received value" condition refers to values gathered with Zabbix Agent or SNMP discovery checks, and it is not applicable if your discovery uses ICMP checks only. (have a look to: https://www.zabbix.com/documentation/3.4/manual/api/reference/action/object?s[]=Received%20values#action_filter_condition ) some hints: 1) if your hosts have Zabbix Agent installed you should be able to set HostMedataItem=agent.hostname in agent configuration file, and get hostname in the Received value filed. Or use Auto Registration, which might be even more reliable. 2) using Zabbix API you can write a script to gets hosts which your discovery puts in "Zabbix discovered" group and move them in the right hostgroup, based on their Host interface DNS property. Regards Nicola 2017-12-07 17:28 GMT+01:00 Jan Matis <jan...@gm...>: > Hi all, thank you for a lovely source of information. > > I'm coming to Zabbix from Nagios/Icinga1 and a bit of Icinga2 knowledge > and trying to figure out whether we should use it instead of heading > towards Icinga2. > > > I have created discovery rule in Configuration -> Discovery (IP range > 10.10.0.0/16, ICMP ping check ) > and it nicely discovers hosts on my network and shows them in Monitoring > -> Discovery ( with proper DNS entries as monitored hosts ) > > I wanted now to start adding these discovered hosts to various groups > based on their DNS names as we have quite strict rules I can rely on. > so in Configuration -> Actions > I have created a new action called 'web servers' (with Event source: > Discovery ) > with > Condition: 'Received value like web' > and > Operation: 'Add to host groups: webs' > > I assumed reverse DNS entry would somehow be in 'Received Value' > but since it is not automatically adding any hosts into the host > group, I'm guessing I was wrong. > > > > I have done some googling and clearly, I am not the first one who is > trying to do this, but I either can not google good enough or there really > was no answer to this in past. > > So, here goes the question :) > Am I missing some concept in Zabbix that would prevent me from doing this > or am I just doing it wrong? > > with best regards > Jan > > > ------------------------------------------------------------ > ------------------ > Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most > engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot > _______________________________________________ > Zabbix-users mailing list > Zab...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/zabbix-users > > |

Hi all, thank you for a lovely source of information. I'm coming to Zabbix from Nagios/Icinga1 and a bit of Icinga2 knowledge and trying to figure out whether we should use it instead of heading towards Icinga2. I have created discovery rule in Configuration -> Discovery (IP range 10.10.0.0/16, ICMP ping check ) and it nicely discovers hosts on my network and shows them in Monitoring -> Discovery ( with proper DNS entries as monitored hosts ) I wanted now to start adding these discovered hosts to various groups based on their DNS names as we have quite strict rules I can rely on. so in Configuration -> Actions I have created a new action called 'web servers' (with Event source: Discovery ) with Condition: 'Received value like web' and Operation: 'Add to host groups: webs' I assumed reverse DNS entry would somehow be in 'Received Value' but since it is not automatically adding any hosts into the host group, I'm guessing I was wrong. I have done some googling and clearly, I am not the first one who is trying to do this, but I either can not google good enough or there really was no answer to this in past. So, here goes the question :) Am I missing some concept in Zabbix that would prevent me from doing this or am I just doing it wrong? with best regards Jan |

Dear all, I`m running to some issues with zabbix. I have created a Media Type "SendScrip" Type is script scriptname: sendscript.sh Script Parameters: *{HOST.NAME} *{TRIGGER.NAME} *{TRIGGER.STATUS} In Configuration => Actions created a new action called Action-Notification-SendScript" *Action: name as above *Defaul subject: removed all *Default message: removed all. (This is the old way to put some Macro`s) Operations: made a Notification via senscript In my host configuration a have a test server added like the following options: HostName: test.test.com * Agent interface: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx port 10050 * SNMP Interface: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx port 161 Templates: * Template App ICMP Ping Macros : * Host Macro is selected The sendscript.sh #!/bin/bash # example invocation: script $1 $2 $3 # Input arguments: Component=$1 Connection=$2 Malfunction=$3 # Config options: server='xxx.xxx.xxx.xxxl' api='api/event' curl -X POST -d "component=${Component}&connection=${Connection}&malfunction=${Malfunction}" http://$server/$api logger -i -t SendAlertPSIM END: $* exit 0 Each time a event is trigger the macros i use in the media type will not parse agruments to the script. So the debug says just the MACROS but without any argument. But when i use there Macros like HOST.NAME nothing is parsed. Debian and Ubuntu are usually bound to their release cycles and packaging policies, other than Zabbix SIA as an independent software vendor (ISV). I don't have an in-depth knowledge of the Debian rules, but I'm fairly sure you won't see new major versions in any non-Sid version of Debian. Zabbix SIA does not provide you with binary packages for every given architecture. You can however rebuild the packages for your target, see https://www.zabbix.org/wiki/Docs/howto/rebuild_debs . This should usually succeed and give you very similar results. The build might take a while though, since it involves all components -- not just the proxy that you might actually need. Zabbix SIA does provide packages for versions of Debian and Ubuntu that it whishes to support. It looks like all of the maintained versions of the two for now. Keep in mind that the way of packaging of the distribution and the ISV _can_ vary substantially, so it may involve a little work, should you switch from one to the other. > If not, is it possible to run Zabbix 3.0 proxies against a 3.4 server, > or should I begin from scratch again with the actual LTS version (not a > big deal, as my test server is only monitoring a few hosts now) ? At least for now only x.y servers work with x.y proxies. Agents can be pretty much any version, though you may miss some features and there is no official support for using newer agents, though this has worked just fine for me in the past. Which version you pick, is really up to you. With non-LTS versions, you will lose support rapidly. If it's easy for you to update things and you are eager for post-3.0 features, this might be the right decision for you. When it comes to 4.0, I would suggest to wait for 2 or 3 minor releases before actually going into production. Hi, I am new to Zabbix and have a questions about the availability of new packages for Debian/Ubuntu. For my tests, I have set up a Zabbix server, running Debian stretch with the latest packages from Zabbix, currently 3.4. The infrastructure to monitor is small (some Windows and Linux based VMs on an ESXi host at the main office, some network devices). After reading the doc carefully (I know, I should have started there), I saw that Debian and Ubuntu come with version 3.0 of Zabbix, which is a LTS version, and than the next LTS version (4.0) is planned for the next quarter. Now I have two questions: Will Debian and Ubuntu bring new packages "as soon as" version 4.0 is ready ? As the proxy servers are going to run on raspis, armhf packages would be needed for them. If not, is it possible to run Zabbix 3.0 proxies against a 3.4 server, or should I begin from scratch again with the actual LTS version (not a big deal, as my test server is only monitoring a few hosts now) ? Thanks and regards Yann Lehmann |

I'm interested if there are any Ansible modules for completely (or as closely as possible) managing Zabbix. I'm aware of the modules that come with Ansible, but they appear to be quite limited, and only cover managing groups, hosts, and screens. I didn't find anything that, for example, can configure items or alerts. What I'm looking for is ideally a way to do all configuration with Ansible rather than by the Zabbix GUI. In other words, the complete Zabbix configuration would be managed by Ansible so that it would be (relatively) trivial to backup and restore a Zabbix configuration. Cordially, Jon Forrest |

Hello, I just installed a fresh Debian 9.2 server to take a look at Zabbix. I downloaded and installed the zabbix-release_3.4-1+stretch_all.deb package and ran 'apt-get update'. After my repository info updated, I installed Zabbix Server by running 'apt-get install zabbix-server-mysql', however it has installed a 3.0 version and not 3.4.x: --- START --- sysadmin@monitor:~$ sudo zabbix_server --version zabbix_server (Zabbix) 3.0.7 Revision 64609 21 December 2016, compilation time: Jun 4 2017 07:14:06 --- END --- I have a Debian 8 server I am will be using as a proxy to monitor devices behind it and I ran the exact same commands for getting the Zabbix repo and then I install zabbix-proxy-mysql and zabbix-agent. These versions are correct: --- START --- os-fw01:~# zabbix_agentd --version zabbix_agentd (daemon) (Zabbix) 3.4.3 Revision 73588 17 October 2017, compilation time: Oct 18 2017 09:51:35 --- END --- Here is the contents of my '/etc/apt/sources.list.d/zabbix.list' file on my Zabbix server (Debian 9): --- START --- deb http://repo.zabbix.com/zabbix/3.4/debian stretch main deb-src http://repo.zabbix.com/zabbix/3.4/debian stretch main --- END --- Other than downgrading to Debian 8, is there a way to fix this so I have the correct (and updated) Zabbix version packages installed? Thanks! :-) Regards, Alan |

Good Morning, I think that mysqlturner is not the best way to optimize zabbix database. People from Percona wrote a very good article. https://www.percona.com/blog/2014/11/14/optimizing-mysql-zabbix/ Maybe it could help you. ----- Original Message ----- From: Guus Snijders <gsn...@gm...> To: Ellis, Merphis <Mer...@us...> Cc: zabbix-users <zab...@li...> Sent: Sat, 28 Oct 2017 22:06:48 +0200 (CEST) Subject: Re: [Zabbix-users] Zabbix 3.4.3 / MySQL 5.7.2 Stops after 30mins Op 28 okt. 2017 20:47 schreef "Ellis, Merphis" <Mer...@us... >: Good Morning I am having a strange problem with a new Zabbix 3.4.3 install. One way of going about would to use diff to see the differences between the original config and the tuner's. Maybe the tuner tool was kind enough to log it's changes? That might also work. My best guess would be that $tuner optimised the config for a certain kind of usage (number of connections, kind of connections (long/short connections, timeouts)), whereas Zabbix's differs from that. Judging by the error text, it looks like both programs using different protools, but then the 30 minutes doesn't make sense. I'm guessing some time out error or suchlike.
