Hello Adam, I bet you forgot to upgrade PHP scripts. At least, include/config.php seems to be old. Hi, Rob, It is really difficult to make zabbix_suckerd crash! I know only one way for Zabbix 1.0beta6 and none for CVS version. Please could you send me at least 50-100 latest lines (do not forget to remove any confidential information)? I'd like to see last messages generated by process which caused this crash. PID of this process is not in (029777,029781,029782, 029782). By the way, CVS version of Zabbix (pre-1.0beta7) supports log rotation. It means that you could safely set whatever debug level you want. Thanks for this email! Alexei > Hi > I installed Zabbix last week to monitor 4 servers and it all worked great, dead easy to set up and had useful information appearing within minutes. Hello, Ira, Please let me know if you get spec file. I have creation of RPM, DEB and Zabbix port in my TODO list. However, lack of free time does not allow me to implement this quickly. Anyway, as a temporary solution I could suggest using of --enable-static flag in order to avoid compilation of Zabbix agents on every server you want to monitor. Hi, Rob, Zabbix, by default, uses two ports: 10000 and 10001. Port 10000 is used by Zabbix agents. In order to change this number you should use parameter called ListenPort in zabbix_agentd.conf. Do not forget to change configuration of hosts to include new port number. Port 10001 is used by zabbix_trapperd. The number can also be easily changed by modifying zabbix_trapperd.conf, parameter ListenPort. My other > scripts know which hosts exist by parsing the /etc/dhcpd.leases file. > Is it possible to easily parse the file and then add the hosts that > "should" exist into the database via direct SQL statements? I see several ways of doing this. 1. You may access http://zabbix/~zabbix/hosts.php?host=newhost&newgroup=&useip=on&ip=127.0.0.1&port=10000&status=1&host_templateid=1®ister=add in order to add new host. So, a simple script consisting of many calls of "lynx <URL>" or "wget <URL>" may do the thing. This, however, requires Add Host permission for guest. 2. include/config.inc contains function add_host(). The function is self-explanatory and can be safely used in your PHP scripts. > I'm very impressed with your software and would love to use it with > my clusters but I can't go about managing 1500+ hosts by hand... Thanks. Let me know if you need any help (configuration, performance tuning, etc). By the way, having so many hosts, do you find PHP frontend usable? If not, what can be improved or changed? I work with clusters of machines and would like to have the ability for hostnames to be added automatically. For example, is it possible that if an unknown host contacts the server it's possible for the server to add that host via a template? Or, how about a script doing it by directly talking to MySQL? My other scripts know which hosts exist by parsing the /etc/dhcpd.leases file. Is it possible to easily parse the file and then add the hosts that "should" exist into the database via direct SQL statements? I'm very impressed with your software and would love to use it with my clusters but I can't go about managing 1500+ hosts by hand... Regards, Will |

Hello to everyone, I'm a newbie and I'm having some problems on installing zabbix. I follow the instructions on the manual to install zabbix, but when I get to the configuration process, where I'm supposed to find a CONFIG link to click on, I just find what it's supposed to bethe zabbix main page, but with lots of messages of this kind: *Warning*: Wrong parameter count for pg_fetch_array() in */home/zabbix/public_html/include/db.inc.php* on line *74* And believe me, it's plenty of them!. What have I been doing wrong? May I have forgotten any module? Thanks for your help. |

Hi, You should specify _correct_ user name for database connection. I think you already have valid user - pgsql. Try to set DB_USER to "pgsql". If this doesn't help, please, add "zabbix" to the list of PosgtreSQL users and assign necessary permissions (like GRANT DBA TO ZABBIX). I hope this helps. Just a small note, if you want to use Zabbix in busy production environment, I would strongly recommend switch to MySQL. PostgreSQL performance degrades very fast and even frequent VACUUMing cannot improve things. Hi again (and sorry), when typing http://localhost/zabbix in my browser for the initial configuration, I get the following message: *Warning*: Unable to connect to PostgreSQL server: (null) in */var/www/html/zabbix/include/db.inc.php* on line *19* Error connecting to database As the manual says, I wrote on the db.inc.php: $DB_TYPE ="POSTGRESQL"; // $DB_TYPE ="MYSQL"; $DB_SERVER ="localhost"; $DB_DATABASE ="zabbix"; $DB_USER =""; $DB_PASSWORD =""; Could it be that I should've created a /zabbix_db_user/ on the database? If not, where's the problem? As you may have noticed, I'm a newbie at zabbix, so excuse me for my ignorance. Thank you. |

Hello, It seems that ./configure was unable to find SNMP libraries on your system. Please, look at http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=142147&forum_id=74299 - the discussion contains answer to your question. Let me know in case of any futher questions :) Good luck! Everything seems fine when I type ./configure, but afterwards, after typing make, I get the following messages: Making all in src/zabbix_sucker make[1]: Entering directory `/scratch/zabbix-1.0beta5/src/zabbix_sucker' gcc -o ../../bin/zabbix_suckerd -g -O2 -I../../include -I/usr/include/pgsql zabbix_sucker.c ../../include/db.c ../../include/functions.c ../../include/expression.c ../../include/cfg.c ../../include/log.c ../../include/security.c -Wall -lcrypt -lutil -lnsl -L/usr/lib -lpq /tmp/ccCRCPG5.o: In function `get_value_SNMPv1': /scratch/zabbix-1.0beta5/src/zabbix_sucker/zabbix_sucker.c:253: undefined reference to `snmp_sess_init' /scratch/zabbix-1.0beta5/src/zabbix_sucker/zabbix_sucker.c:271: undefined reference to `snmp_open' /scratch/zabbix-1.0beta5/src/zabbix_sucker/zabbix_sucker.c:274: undefined reference to `snmp_pdu_create' /scratch/zabbix-1.0beta5/src/zabbix_sucker/zabbix_sucker.c:275: undefined reference to `read_objid' /scratch/zabbix-1.0beta5/src/zabbix_sucker/zabbix_sucker.c:283: undefined reference to `snmp_add_null_var' /scratch/zabbix-1.0beta5/src/zabbix_sucker/zabbix_sucker.c:286: undefined reference to `snmp_synch_response' /scratch/zabbix-1.0beta5/src/zabbix_sucker/zabbix_sucker.c:335: undefined reference to `snmp_errstring' /scratch/zabbix-1.0beta5/src/zabbix_sucker/zabbix_sucker.c:350: undefined reference to `snmp_sess_perror' /scratch/zabbix-1.0beta5/src/zabbix_sucker/zabbix_sucker.c:357: undefined reference to `snmp_free_pdu' /scratch/zabbix-1.0beta5/src/zabbix_sucker/zabbix_sucker.c:359: undefined reference to `snmp_close' /tmp/ccCRCPG5.o: In function `main': /scratch/zabbix-1.0beta5/src/zabbix_sucker/zabbix_sucker.c:1092: undefined reference to `init_snmp' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make[1]: *** [all] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/scratch/zabbix-1.0beta5/src/zabbix_sucker' make: *** [all] Error 1 What have I made wrong? I have the ucd_snmp rpm's installed on my red hat 7.2, so it shouldn't disply these messages, should it? Thanks in advance. |

Hi Alain, Yes, this is definitely a bug! The bug is registered in SF database (by you?), so you can check http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=558460&group_id=23494&atid=378683 to get latest information on progress made. Thanks for reporting this! Cheers, Alexei On Tue, May 21, 2002 at 12:07:32AM +0200, Alain Fontaine wrote: > Hello! > > My Alert-Emails all have 0.000000 as the values (last, min, max). Hello! My Alert-Emails all have 0.000000 as the values (last, min, max). Here's the templates I use (stock configuration): <-- snip --> ------Latest data------ Number of users connected: {localhost:system[users].last(0)} (latest value) Number of users connected: {localhost:system[users].max(300)} (maximum value for last 5 min) Number of users connected: {localhost:system[users].min(300)} (minimum value for last 5 min) ---------End-------- <-- snip --> And the data I receive in my E-mail: <-- snip --> ------Latest data------ Number of users connected: 0.000000 (latest value) Number of users connected: 0.000000 (maximum value for last 5 min) Number of users connected: 0.000000 (minimum value for last 5 min) ---------End-------- <-- snip --> This is also true for another item I have tested (HTTP process count). Is this a bug, or my mistake? Apart of that, I really love Zabbix and I think I have some very cool applications for it. Thank you! --- Alain Fontaine VAlain sa |

Andreas, It seems that snmp depends on library crypto. That is why AC_CHECK_LIB(snmp, main, "-lcrypto") does not work, but AC_CHECK_LIB(snmp, main, LIBS="-lsnmp $LIBS") works perfectly. Thanks for suggestion ! I'll make changes in configure.in. Good luck ! I had a small problem with the compilation of beta 2 (linux 2.4 with net-snmp): the -lsnmp in the Makefile (for zabbix-agentd) was missing. This is caused by the configure script, which seems to be broken. I think, the line AC_CHECK_LIB(snmp, main, "-lcrypto") in configure.in shold rather look like AC_CHECK_LIB(snmp, main, LIBS="-lsnmp $LIBS") but unfortunately I don't know autoconf that well (at least it works;-). I think you forgot to add new parameter to monitor before changing existing trigger. For example, if you have trigger {www.sf.net:cksum[/etc/inetd.conf].diff(0)}>0 defined and want to change /etc/inetd.conf to /etc/xinetd.conf, you need to follow this procedure: 1. Add cksum[/etc/xinetd.conf] to list of items for www.sf.net 2. Change {www.sf.net:cksum[/etc/inetd.conf].diff(0)}>0 to {www.sf.net:cksum[/etc/xinetd.conf].diff(0)}>0 3. Delete (disable) cksum[/etc/xinetd.conf] if you don't need it Alexei On Tue, Feb 12, 2002 at 01:34:42AM +0000, Dennis O. I can't seem to change default trigger that monitors size of /etc/inetd.conf to /etc/xinetd.conf. The following message appears. [ERROR:Invalid trigger expression.
