Hello, First of all, congratulations for this software development. We are starting to work with it and we find it really useful for our purposes. The only thing that we miss in the items or triggers menu are the CPU Usage values. We are running zabbix on a DELL PowerEdge Linux Red Hat 7.3 server DUAL PROCESSOR. The CPU Load item in zabbix is monitoring the CPU Load Average that are not % values of CPU Usage. We have added 3 new items with the following OID's for the CPU USAGE Percentage values CPU User: .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11.9.0 CPU System: .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11.10.0 CPU Idle: .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11.11.0 You can see the item configuration in this screenshot: http://www.qsmedia.com/fernando/item.jpg But the problem is that Linux SNMP do not refresh the values of this percentage OID's since the reboot (We have read that this OID's are deprecated and that we must use the following RAW OID's) You can see a screenshot of a zabbix graph screen not refreshing values in: http://www.qsmedia.com/fernando/cpu_usage_perce.jpg RAW CPU OID's: CPU User: .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11.50.0 CPU Nice: .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11.51.0 CPU System: .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11.52.0 CPU Idle: .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11.53.0 The problem of raw data is that we don't know how to translate to percentage values for creating in zabbix 'human understandable graphs' You can see the raw data graph in this screenshot: http://www.qsmedia.com/fernando/cpu_raw.jpg We have think of doing this calculation (User / (User + Nice + System + Idle))*100 to obtain the User Percentage and so on with system and idle. Is this possible with ZABBIX? Is there any other easier way to obtain the CPU Usage instead of CPU Load for a dual processor system? Thanks in advance for your help, Fernando Serer |

Hi guys, I finally got success with this issue. To compile PHP 4.3.2 enabling GD module, just include '--with-gd = --with-zlib-dir' at ./configure command. My zabbix is running just fine. My linux box: RedHat Linux 7.2 2.4.20.18.7 kernel Apache 2.0.46 PHP 4.3.2 MySQL 4.0.13-0 Zabbix 1.0beta9 Thank you Chris Teachworth for your help. Marco Lucena Brazil ml...@bo... mar...@ya... |

Hi I have been successfully using Zabbix (1.07) to monitor our 4 Linux servers for some months now. But today the web admin screens started running incredibly slowly, it takes about 5 minutes to load a page containing a graph. On loading the 'Config' Page (config.php) I got the following error at the top of the page. Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /var/www/html/zabbix/include/db.inc.php on line 107 Could this be because the History table has more than 20,000,000 rows in it? Anybody got any ideas? And thanks for all the hard work, this is a really great tool. Cheers Rob --------------------------------- Yahoo! Plus - For a better Internet experience |

Oops, nevermind. I had must have done a killall and left an orphaned = pid file behind. Works great now, it's really nice and easy to extend. = Nice job. Hi, just downloaded zabbix-1.0beta9. zabbix_suckerd crashes on startup with no warnings or messages in the logs. I can ping localhost, the web interface is working well, I can create accounts, a map, etc. so the database seems to be working ok. Here's the details, let me know if you need any more info: Linux kernel 2.4.8 Debian Woody 3.0 gcc version 2.95.2 zabbix-1.0beta9 mysqld 3.23.49 ucd-snmpd 4.2.3 php 4.1.2-6 apache 1.3.26 strace Hi, Zabbix database contains all necessary information for generation of graphs of any complexity. Performance is the most important issue. Generation of yearly and monthly graphs may take a minute. This is not acceptable. However I did no performance testing and the real situation can be much better. Zabbix is all-in-one solution. Data visualisation, maps, alarming, IT services - all this and more is part of Zabbix. I will not integrate any third party software to Zabbix. I'd like to keep list of dependencies as small as possible. Unfortunately I cannot comment anything about RRDTool because of my very limited knowledge of this product. As I said earlier, MRTG-like graphs will be implemented. Regards, Alexei > Hi all > We are talking before about adding MRTG quality graphs to zabbix. > The problem was the data calculations. > OK > Can we use RRDTool for the data storage ?? > That way, we will have data storage functionality separated from the alarming > and monitoring functionality. > This is unix philosophy after all, to have separate apps do small functions, > and integrate them all to do the desired job perfectly. > That way, we will have the rrdtool do the calculations for us, also it will > help keep a small size of the data. > Also, it will give us MRTG quality graphs (daily, weekly, monthly and yearly.) > > Alexei, what do you think ? > > Regards > Mohamed Eldesoky |

Hi all We are talking before about adding MRTG quality graphs to zabbix. The problem was the data calculations. OK Can we use RRDTool for the data storage ?? That way, we will have data storage functionality separated from the alarming and monitoring functionality. This is unix philosophy after all, to have separate apps do small functions, and integrate them all to do the desired job perfectly. That way, we will have the rrdtool do the calculations for us, also it will help keep a small size of the data. Also, it will give us MRTG quality graphs (daily, weekly, monthly and yearly.) Alexei, what do you think ? Regards Mohamed Eldesoky -- Once a wise man said "nothing" |

Hi Mohamed, This is already in Zabbix TODO list. I'd like to have MRTG-like (dayly, weekly, monthy, yearly) graphs implemented. Monthly and yearly graphs cannot be generated quickly because of the database does not store pre-calculated statistics. The issue must be solved somehow... Suffixes (Mb,Gb, etc) will also be implemented. I'll try to include this functionality into Zabbix 1.0beta10, which is pre-1.0 (stable) release btw. Hello I have a small RFE. Can we have the graph view page show us daily, weekly, monthy and yearly ?? Much like MRTG At least you can provide links to have a broader view of the graphs. Also, if you can add the ability to set the units of the values independently! May be for hard disk space, I want the unit to be in giga, not mega or kilo...etc Regards Mohamed Eldesoky -- Once a wise man said "nothing" |
