After comparing the .8xp files created by DevPac8x.com and bin2var.exe the only bytes that differ are the following:

0x39
0x44
0x45
0x48
0x49
0x4db*
0x4dc*

*several guides note that these two bytes comprise a checksum of some part of the .8xp file though none seem to agree on what part of the file.

none of .8xp file format guides that I've read seem to list the format of the file the same though, so it's difficult to figure out what's going on here.
