I am enquiring on two areas I'm having trouble with in YAAC. Not too sure if it's me not seeing the wood for the trees. Hopefully someone can advise either-way :-)
Info. Windows 7 Pro and running YAAC Beta 72 as Fill-in Digi and iGate (RF -> IS only)
1) Digipeat
I have setup digipeat in the global digipeat for WIDE1-1 and Trace on. Also in my port setup (2m port) I have Digi for WIDE1-1 ticked. The issue I am having is that when I send a beacon (From my car in the driveway) my -2 base station digipeats but seemly with no Via details. I.E. When my -2 station digipeats the beacon from the car the Kenwood D710 in my car show blank for both the Via and From fields on the digipeat packet.
In UIVIEW this work fine, so it's a setting/user issue or something else. O have searched this news group and cannot see anyone else reporting this issue?
2) iGate
I have iGate running with RF -> IS Gating ticked. I have noticed my car beacon is received but only the odd time it is send via the -2 base station running YAAC to the IS Gateway and other times it does not. Observed looking at APRS.fi) Seems to be hit & Miss. I have noticed also when another mobile pass thru our town his -9 is not always gated to the IS gateway either.
An observation I have noticed is the IP flashes red for some 1-3 seconds on all traffic that I would consider should be sent to the IS gateway.
Another observation is looking at APRS.fi under heard from this station (Base Station -2), when a beacon is actually passed to the IS Gateway it's not always showing an increment of the packet count.
Just wondering if there is something I am missing with the YAAC setups.
Thanks

Regarding your questions, I am investigating the first one now. Regarding the second question, YAAC is rather slow as an I-gate (compared to other I-gating software), so if any other I-gate in your area hears the mobile station first, it will most likely be the one to get the mobile's packets to the APRS-IS backbone first, and therefore YAAC's duplicate submittal will be discarded by the backbone servers. Are your mobile's packets appearing at all on the APRS-IS? If so, what is the callsign/SSID of the I-gate submitting it? I would assume that it is not your call. Note that the backbone won't even accept your submittals unless you are specifying the appropriate passcode for your callsign in the YAAC port configuration for your APRS-IS port (or are using a valid Logbook of the World certificate with the SSL-APRS-IS port type).

Re #2 the i-gating, yes I am using my call (VK3GY-1 when using UI-View and VK3GY-2 when using YAAC) your explaination makes sense that YAC is rather slow as an I-gate . So I tried it with my HT (so no other station would hear the HT beacons) and those packets are being sent to the APRS-IS backbone servers via my VK3GY-2 call. So all good.
An observation though.
The HT is sending WIDE1-1, WIDE 2-1 and I noticed that the RAW packet data YAAC is sending to the APRS-IS from my station VK3GY-2 is WIDE1,WIDE2-1. I understand on digipeat the WIDE1-1 is stripped by 1 resulting in WIDE1 when digiting over the air, but UI-VIEW does not do this when send directly to APRS-IS. The result when YAAC does this is the mobile/portable station (In this case VK3GY-7) does not appear on the Stations heard directly list by VK3GY-2 in in APRS.fi, when in fact it was.
Thanks for your support on a great program.

Can't see the original posts; however, I run YAAC as my IGate with very good success.
Hi Andrew,
With the 2-Oct update both points 1) Digipeat & 2) Wide1-1 are funtioning OK.
Tnx U so much for the quick update to fix these.
Regards
