In the attached example, I demonstrate a definite
problem regarding viewpoints. It also can demonstrate
a problem with the Zoom function.
NOTE: Make sure that Carina is set to show a 10x10
square greed that covers 1 square meter (not the
default 10)!
In the .xwrl file, there are four small purple spheres
that represent areas I had arranged for viewpoint
positions. (Three of those viewpoints have been
commented out in order to simplify matters) When
switching to those viewpoints, I have trouble finding
the small lamp (in the middle of the virtual space) so
I set four large colored spheres away from the space in
order to help orient myself.
The default viewpoint is at a distance which shows the
area with the purple spheres. The two non-default
viewpoints are supposed to be in the EXACT same
position as the purple sphere IN FRONT OF the small
lamp. The first viewpoint is ALMOST in the position it
should be, but if you zoom out, you notice that the
purple sphere that should be the position of the
viewpoint is NOT centered. It IS centered if you use
"Spin" to see everything revolve AROUND the purple
sphere in question. However, to align the viewpoint
with the purple sphere to ensure that it's the correct
viewpoint position, you have to pan a bit to do it.
Switching to the second viewpoint reveals the more
obvious problem. The second viewpoint is WITHIN the
Transform tag, but the viewpoint should still be in the
same place! IT ISN'T! It's WAY off from where it
should be.
This problem needs to be fixed as soon as possible in
order to ensure that viewpoints are accurate and allow
easier viewing of virtual materials. Especially the
more complex ones.
