Hi,
on Xubuntu 14.04, with Xournal 0.48, when I try to page > load background,
the relative window is completly unresponsive, that is I can't browse through my folders and only the X button in the top-right corner works.
I assume this is a duplicate of bug #159, also affects other file and
similar dialog boxes besides "load background", and only happens with
Options -> Use XInput turned on. If so: the bug should have been fixed
in the current CVS/GIT snapshot. Please try compiling the GIT snapshot
at http://sourceforge.net/p/xournal/code/ Let me know if the issue
persists with a recent snapshot.

Well, actually, if "Use XInput" is turned on,
when I open a menu from the menubar, to close it, I have to click on its label.
While, if "Use XInput" is turned off is sufficiently to click outside the menu.

Release 0.4.8.2016 is up to date with cvs/git repositories, and should include a fix for this bug. Please reopen if problems persist with 0.4.8.2016 or with the current cvs/git code.
I agree with the issue pointed out that clicking outside a menu doesn't close it when xinput is enabled; I am not sure this is a meaningful issue, if it bothers you please file a new bug report about it just so it's on my list again.
