[Xmms-embedded-users] problem with feed

Hi all,

I just tried installing xmms-embedded from 
http://xmms-embedded.sf.net/feed/oz32, but OZ can't find any of the packages.

Do I need to do anything special? I can download/install package from the OZ 
stable feed.

I added xmms-embedded as a server with the above url.  I was able to update 
the list, but I when I try to install any of the packages I get the same 
error: Could not find package <NAME_OF_PACKAGE>

Any idea what the problem might be?

Yes, suspend the Z, and plug in/unplug (depending on how it is before suspe=
nd)=20
headphone.

Forgot to add: it also fixes misdetection of headphone, when plugged in and 
out when the Z is suspended - bug found & explained by Lukas Smith.

xmms-embedded.sf.net/feed/oz32
feed is rebuilt with some little fixes (libglib dependancy), flac plugin is 
available again, mplayer is freshly built from cvs, and everything else is up 
to date. Also there is a new sound-module package, for those who are annoyed 
by the low quality when recording with a mic (a bug in OZ 3.2).

the fbdev output driver doesn't seem to work. I will try to see
what theproblem could be in the hopefully near future. 
One thing you could try until than is mplayer -v -v -v -vf scale -vo fbdev -fb 
/dev/fb/0 where you can substitue /dev/fb/0 with any feasible looking 
framebuffer device, /dev/fb0, /dev/fb/1 or something similar. But probably 
/dev/fb/0 is the currect device, only vo_fbdev can't use it properly for some 
reason.

You can try the mplayer list, but probably this is a problem I introduced,
hence they might not (want to) give support. Also do read bugreports.html in
the mplayer docs (links on www.mplayerhq.hu) before sending a mail, if you=
=20
don't want lot of flame :)

Yes, that long table listing is not of interest, but the part after that an=
d=20
before A: x.x V: x.x ... etc.  is of interest (what filter chain is it=20
trying, what vo device)

-vo null so I only looked at the video sections:

Yes that is fine.

Try mplayer -vf scale something.avi
if it's not working could you perhaps post the output of
mplayer -v -v -v -v -vf scale something.avi 
?

hmmm mplayer itself is giving me crap when I try to start it... it 
recognises the file and all, but then:

the selected video_out device is incompatible with this codec
could not initialise video filters (-vop) or video output (-vo)
fbdev : can't restore text mode: Invalid Argument

Maybe one of you guys knows about this? If mplayer is trying to use 
fbdev, should OPIE really be running? (I assume so)
I did get this error on a previous install of Familiar, has anyone 
gotten mplayer to run at all on the Ipaq/OPIE?
Without this, I obviously cannot test the mplayerplugin seriously... 
from what I see, the video files are recognised properly by xmms-e, 
playing starts a small black screen that fills up the playlist area, 
and then, of course, it disappears because mplayer doesn't want to 
play...

mplayer can play many things, but divx avi and divx+ogg ogm has the most 
sense. It can play mjpeg, mpeg(broken atm), very old realvideo, and some 
others.

the problem with mplayer on ipaq will be that the picture is misplaced - 
question is how is it misplaced, and are there other problems too.

*GGGG* I hate ipkg... it had installed the libmad from Familiar 0.6.2 
though I indicated the one in the xmms-e feed... seems to do this 
automagicrappily

BUT the good news is, every single file is now recognised and is 
playable, wicked...

Now, Denes, you wanted to know about mpalyer and its plugin. I have 
installed the mplayer in your (?) feed on my Ipaq.
What libs and codecs was it compiled with? So I knwo how to create a 
video file I can test with.

Me neither. I tried the feed now, and it works for me. regarding mp3's=20
probably libmad isn't installed correctly or at all rather.
Regarding the ogg I have no idea - could you perhaps send the beginning of =
the=20
non-working song, or put it up somewhere so I can test ?

libglib1.2, which is, however, required in order to get xmms to start.

529MB RAM has been resolved in this version it seems (there was no  
previous install of xmms on this build of Familiar).
  Also, I no longer have to use liquid in order to see scrollbars in

Thanks. In that feed mplayer and xmms packages are new, others are not newe=
r=20
(perhaps even older) than those in the OZ feed.

One user reported that xmms is working fine. Reports acknowledging this are=
=20
welcome, and what I don't know is how the mplayer plugin is working on the=
=20
ipaq. It is probably broken due to different orientation of the ipaq=20
iirc/afaik. If you don't mind possible frustration your findings regarding=
=20
mplayer+xmms are most welcome

I'm attempting to get ogm that has a Divx5 video stream and a vorbis audio
stream to play, but I'm not having any luck...

I'm just wondering what the success rate of other users has been before I
really start looking into why it's not working.
