#318 XFW 2.1.7 - garbled text input

Hello:

My box runs on Devuan Linux Daedalus with the default XFCE desktop.

I downloaded and upgraded to the latest version of XFE to see if I could return to using XFW as it is the GUI text editor I have felt more comfortable with, same as with your XFE application, which has been my default file manager for a good while now.

Unfortunately, after a short while of using XFW I am met with the same problem I had when I had stopped using it. ie: garbled text and problems with the text input, quite annoying.

I'd appreciate your advise as to how to troubleshoot this and report back with my findings.
