[wxCode-users] searching for a wxCode administrator to takeover my role

Hi all,
in the next foreseeable future (say 2 years) I'll be very busy (I'm
taking a PhD)... I think I won't be able to handle the (honestly few)
administrative tasks for the wxCode project.

Is there anyone willing to take over my role in the wxCode project?
The task involves: approving new components, supervise the website and
the actions on the SVN/CVS repositories by the various wxCode members,
provide help on this mailing list.

If you think you can (after some private explanation and help from me)
handle the tasks above, please contact me.

I would not worry too much: as far as I know registering is a manual process. Maybe only Francesco can set you up, and he most probably doesn't check his mails every day.  Give it a few more days, I'm reasonably sure he'll reply eventually.

[wxCode-users] wxSMTP Component submission

Hello everyone,

Last week, I contacted the person in charge of the development of wxSMTP
project because he was looking for a maintainer. We agreed on the fact
that
I would take this job and that I would integrate this project in wxCode.

I filled the submission form and registered to the user mailing list. I
still received no response for the submission, and I still did not receive
any mail on the user mailing list.

So, I am wondering if something went wrong during my registration and if
it was lost, or if it simply takes more time to get an answer.

Note that I had maybe a bad idea when I registered : I did not use the
same mail address for mailing list and for wxCode website registration. I
don't know if this can mess-up the registration process.

I was using the wxFreeChart library generated by its makefile, and despite I
could not identify any strange option, it was giving me this error.
Now I created a new code::blocks project to build the library by myself, and
after use it. It worked fine.

   - have you built the wxWidgets libs with '--enable-graphics-ctx' (on my windows build for v2.8.9, it is disabled by default)
   - are you linking libs in the right order

Initial Comment:
It would be nice to have a wxListView XRC handler in the official build.  It should be fairly easy to implement... just copy from xh_listc.cpp and xh_listc.h.  That way we could actually take advantage of wxListView from an XRC file.  

I am surprised this is not already done. wxListView has been out for a while and the docs encourage its use saying that direct access to wxListCtrl may one day go away.

     Thanks for bug solving first , I have done same thing in my code and got the scroll event but i got another problem.

When we i first used the code i found that HitTest was not working fine and did not return anything.

1. First i change the code in treeListctrl.cpp file at this place

wxTreeItemId wxTreeListCtrl::HitTest(const wxPoint& pos, int& flags, int& column)
{
    wxPoint p = (pos);
    return m_main_win->HitTest (p, flags, column);
}

It works for me and give me the correct result and i have coding that when i clicked on button it collapse/or expand the button and select the clicked item.

2. Second changes i have done that i implement

void wxTreeListMainWindow::OnScroll (wxScrollWinEvent& event) {

3. I have implement the functions to syncronized the scroll position of first window to second window

         Scroll(pos, 0);
     }
}

Problem :

Current working:
I am using two treelistctrl to compare directory. I have maintain a map of treeItemId to make synchronization of scrolling and collapsing and expanding item, When i clicked(on mouse click) on first frame it return me treeItemId and on the basis of ItemId , second treelistCtrl correspondence treeItem id get selected , collapsed or expand with help of that map.  
Problem:
HitTest do not retun me the exact TreeItem Id in first frame and after collapsed item it retun me the wrong tree item Id  and make selection of different item other then i clicked.

For example i filled 20 item in treelist and last item has 4 child and currently in expanded state, i clicked on button to collapse them , it collapse and select the item one/two upper the item i got selected. I am selecting Item on mouse up event as :

void CUCTreeCtrlEx:: OnLeftMouseUP(wxMouseEvent &event)
 {
     int flag;
     wxTreeItemId id = HitTest(event.GetPosition(), flag);
     SelectItem(id);
}

CUCTreeCtrlEx is derived with treelistctrl.

Second time its working fine but when i scroll the window and try again to click on button it again return me wrong item id.

I think there is some refreshing problem, please find the attachment as screen Shot. 
My treeList is single seleted and os is Linux Ubunto-9.0

  Hi Yogesh
I have amended the control so that you can receive scroll events --see feature tracker #3082693 and the sample for details.
You can implement an OnScroll() method for your 2 controls, and ensure that scrolling in one gets applied to the other.

indeed scrolling events from wxTreeListMainWindow do not propagate to the main class wxTreeListCtrl
As a workaround if you are in a hurry: modify wxTreeListMainWindow::OnScroll() to get called for those events

[wxCode-users] how to catch scroll event of wxTreeListCtrl

Hi,

I am using wxTreeListCtrl and application is to compare two directory
that's why i need two wxTreeListCtrl and have synchronization between
them when scroll window, mean to say that if directory have long list
and need to scroll the control the otherside or second wxTreelistctrl
should also move as first is moving.

My problem is that i am unable to pick scroll event of wxTreeListCtrl, I
have applied handler
*wxwidgets:*

EVT_SCROLLWIN(MyTreeCtrlEx::OnScroll)

void MyTreeCtrlEx:: OnScroll(wxScrollWinEvent& event)
{
    wxMessageBox(_("Scroll Event Fired"));
}


and apply breakpoint but cursor do not hit breakpoint, After exploring i
come to know that wxTreeListCtrl do not generate any event and there is
a class wxMainWindow that handle the scroll event and it is a member
variable in wxTreeListCtrl class , but i am unable to find out how can i
implement the scroll event in my application, it is essential for
application. Is is possible to get scroll event.

OS : Linux:    Ubunto-9

don't know if you already found what the problem was, some ideas:
   - using a different compiler for the sample than the one used to build wxWidgets
   - using different compile options for the sample than the ones used to build wxWidgets
   - missing some libraries (unlikely in your case)
   - linking libraries in wrong order

I can see that libraries are coming from 2 different locations (d:\gh\wx  and  /usr/local/lib), that is suspicious as well. Mixing 2 different installations, maybe ?

I have wxWidgets 2.8.11 installed on my Windows XP box. I am using MSYS/mingw. 
I try building wxFreeChart v1.6 by first doing a "configure". I get the

 Thank you for your reply,

wxWidgets installation is working with other programs.
I build with Code::Blocks.
The compiler is GCC 4.4.0, it is the same as used to compile wxWidgets.
With the debugger the call stack is empty, the error is the same.
I try with wxWidget 2.8.9, I have the same error.

- is your wxWidgets installation otherwise working? (sample programs compile and execute)
- how do you build (IDE, makefile ?), what compiler are you using? Is it the same (with the same options) as used to compile wxWidgets ?
- did you try to start treelisttest with the debugger ?
- you could try with another build, e.g. 2.8.7 or 2.8.9
   binaries for 2.8.7 from:  http://www.brothersoft.com/wxwidgets-115143.html

Can anyone on the list confirm that wxTreeListCtrl works with a monolithic DLL ? (can't see why it would not, but never tested)

[wxCode-users] Probleme on using dll of wxTreeListCtrl

Dear coders,

I try to use wxTreeListCtrl, but the treelisttest doesn't work with me.
I use wxWidget 2.8.11 as monolithic dll. I use windows XP.
When I run treelisttest, I have an error (0xc0000005) "Process return -1073741819 (0xc0000005)"
I don't find any help about this on the forums.
Have you an idea?

When you try to give a specific size to wxTreeListCtrl in MSW, the resulting control defaults to 100px in height and 100px in width. The control will expand if the sizers are set, but you cannot set a explicit size for this control under MSW. This works under GTK+.

there's no problem if you post your updates / new releases to your
website but please try to keep the wxCode repository up-to-date,
otherwise there's no reason to host components there :)

Thanks again for your work! I'm sure there are users grateful of your
work but often when the users are software developers there's no much
feedback... partially because developer users are capable of resolving
many problems themselves, without help... anyway I agree some
feedback/comment is very useful to keep up the motivation :)

[wxCode-users] wxScintilla XSTC updates and website host

I have not really used wxCode in some time since I have had my own website.  
I got it about a year and a half ago. Along with my other interests I have  
my software on there. I have kept XSTC up-to-date in wxCode-svn but not  
done too much with releases here. I have also been keeping up pretty well  
with updating the Scintilla code in wxScintilla. I also add the lexer  
definitions to wxScintilla.h so that the updates are useful with respect to  
new languages. I just put 2.20 in and put it up on my website. an  
uo-to-date version is the biggest reason to use wxSci over stc which is not  
maintained much unless more recent activity is sign of a new maintainer??

XSTC is only missing the newest 2 languages, that's almost 100 languages  
supported by Scintilla now I think. I am about to put up a Scintilla  
document manager as well, it handles the reference counting and swapping  
out documents in a single scintilla instance and takes care of clean-up  
when things close out. Also I have done some work where it will restore  
document specific settings that Scintilla forgets about when you swap out a  
document, like the folding state. This was built in part to be a helper for  
XSTC, but I hope to make it work without wxWidgets as well for other crowds.

reflect the website location and where to get the "real" newest stuff.

I have done a lot of work to XSTC since I first put it out on wxCode, the  
main goal is to make the repetitive tasks in a text editor using Scintilla  
less of a burden. XSTC sets up the margins, activates the mouse sensitive  
bits and gives you a bookmark marker immediately. It uses a global theme to  
keep the look n feel of all the different sources you edit the same. There  
are some built in themes that emulate some well known color schemes like  
Matrix or Borland and some lesser known ones. It also has a fully Scintilla  
specific configuration system already to go and working. Unlike wxSTed  
where it takes care of many features of an editor, XSTC takes care of many  
features of Scintilla for you. Coloring is mostly automatic but still  
configurable. Folding will magically work for lexers that support it. Each  
style in Scintilla has a configuration setting ready to go and several  
non-style related options are also set up. Folding symbols can be  
configured by a mere function call. XSTC also has a couple utility  
functions, one to convert tabs to spaces or the other way around and  
another to trim trailing spaces in the whole document. I am planning on  
trying to support some kind of multi-line editing similar to 'e' / texmate  
later on. I am also planning on a simple macro recorder/playback class as  
well.

XSTC also supports default keywords built in and managed automatically but  
they can be user changed any time, also you can turn it off if you want  
since all those strings can be a big memory hog. The biggest issue i have  
with the keywords and styles in not knowing what they do for each of the  
languages they are suppose to be coloring so its difficult to make good  
default color decisions. If there is anyone who knows some that can help  
out with that part id appreciate it.

Some of the improvement I have make are:
I rebuilt the configuration system to use wxConfig completely, the first  
version I had was poor but did the job.
XSTC now uses your configuration object rather than forcing you to use its  
own, you manage the config object completely it just uses it to read up  
what it needs.
I made the xstc specific config location relative now so it can be set  
anywhere within the config structure rather than always taking place on the  
root.
I added support for the color database so that string color names can be  
used in the configuration files and I made the config routines triple  
redundant and can fall back on defaults if necessary rather than failing.
You can load a full theme from configs that works just like the built in  
versions. And added a fully config based theme called Fire.
I have mostly kept up with the new lexers in Scintilla and added support  
for those languages including the global theming that makes coloring  
automatic. I'm only 2 short at the moment.
XSTC support for each language can be toggled individually
I added support for numbered bookmarks like in Dev-C++, 0-9
some of the less obvious functionalities of Scintilla are make options that  
are easy to turn on or off

This is kind of an overview of what has been done and hopefully some people  
will take interest or reinterest. I have some other irons in the fire as  
well that may be of interest to a text editor junkie. I'd be more than  
interested to hear any feature requests, get patches or bug reports too ;)
