In Windows 10 the right click "Winmerge" menu does not work (when clicking on the "WinMerge" option in the right click contextual menu, nothing happens). Tested with both WinMerge latest versions, 2.12.4.0 and the 14th version as well.

Windows 10 (1607) FR.

The same versions on the Windows 7 (also FR) works well... but not Win10.

Checked all the boxes in the "Shell integration" options window.
Now instead of "WinMerge" the contextual menu changed its name in "Compare"... The result of the click on it is the same... Nothing (first time it tries something to do, because the mouse icon changes in "loading" for a short moment, but finally nothing happens)

I too have this similar issue. I am using WinMerge 2.14.0.0on Windows 10 and Visual Studio 2017. I have Tools > Options > Visual Studio Team Foundation Server > Configure User Tools ... (See attachments)

I can select two files from the VS Solution Explorer but when I right click there is no "Compare" in the contextual menu.

Using WinMerge outside of VS seems to work fine. Is there some setting that needs to be set?

WinMerge 2.14.0 works on my Windows 10 (fresh install) the same way it works on my Windows 7 development machine. File and folder compare are both working fine.

In Version 2.16.18.0 (on Windows 8.1) it does not work either.
WinMerge appears in the context menu, but clicking on it while having selected one or more files doesn’t seem to start anything.

When starting WinMerge from Explorer context menu, the path of the WinMerge EXE file is obtained from the following registry key.

      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Thingamahoochie\WinMerge\Executable

Is the path set correctly in the above?

The above registry key is set at the time of installation or by pressing the OK button in the WinMerge Options dialog.
