With operating systems like Windows 2k/XP that have
services (ie. Admistrative tools/services) wouldn't
WinLIRC run better if it was made into one?

    You can run any program as a service - look at http://ntFAQ.
    com

    What i may want is using XNet protocol, not only TCP.
    Local TCP on Windows works with much more overhead than
    on Linux.

    exactly

    even in win95 you can let any prog be "run as service".
    ok,ok, it's not technically the same as it is on a nt-system,
    but it is what you want, i think

    hey just get firedaemon and you can add it as a service.
