ttf-mscorefonts-installer not updating

I am getting a message from the updater that I am not up to date. updates shows "ttf-mscorefonts-installer" is available for update but when i choose "update all", the screen just flickers and does nothing.

Found a solution. did a sudo apt upgrade. this did the update without a glitch.
