Any updates...? I'm kinda struggling out here with my homework HEHE
Sorry for interrupting. I did wrong. It was necessary to start the beginning of the line not with the inscription, but with the head of a little man. In this case, no error occurs.
Windows 10 There is a topic with the same name for another diagram. https://sourceforge.net/p/whitestaruml/tickets/27/
I am getting an error when I want to draw arrows. In StarUML1 there is the same error, but it does not occur immediately, but it is possible to draw from one to three lines.

yesssss, it works fine - thx for this simple solution!!!

Thanks :) it is working :D But in documentation https://www.omg.org/spec/UML/2.2/Superstructure/PDF on page 328 they use []
Some characters are not accepted as valid UML syntax. Try using the Property Inspector to set names without parsing (validating) them.
Hi, I can't add Guard with square brackets see attachment. StarUML 5 can do this. Is it a bug? WhiteStarUml 5.9.1.0 Regards
If for some reason you have not noticed it yet, the project has been officially abandoned for about two years now. So all development is stopped and I see posting new requests as completely pointless. Of course this project is open source and someone might come with an idea to make an update. However I see it extremely unlikely as no one had ever shown such an interest during the years when the project was active. There are also some technical problems with some outdated dependancies, especially...
Why "won't fix". I could understand, if you don't have resources for doing this on your own. But why can't I get a pointer for doing that implementation as additional feature?

Search the forum for a better solution for mismatching decimal separators.
I had the same problem when I opened a file created on another computer. Turns out the problem is caused by different locale settings between the two computers. It seems that WhiteStarUML saves and loads files using the current locale decimal point format! On my one computer numbers are displayed as "123.4", while on the other computer it is displayed as "123,4". This mismatch causes the label positions to be discarded. The solution is to set the locale settings to be the same between the two computers,...
I use Rational Rose 2003 and looking for a replacement. I am using Delphi 10.1 Berlin for modeldriven development in Bold. WhiteStarUML seems to be a nice option. As I understand it use Devexpress components so not a true opensource project. But I use Devexpress anyway in other projects. It would be nice if this project continue developing
Using WhiteStarUml (32bit, Version 5.9.1.0) I got the message "Function not available: Could not initialize GraphViz DLL library (Have you installed VC++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable?)" on Windows 8.1 (german, 64 bit) and on Windows 10 (german, 64 bit). Adding GraphViz dir to %PATH% environment variable solved the problem. Thanks
Hi! I'm new in programming, and in UML. I just started to use WhiteStar UML. How can I create a proper if statement? I know it in combined fragment, but I couldn't be able to show the else statement.
You may have isssues with Direct2D. Use Tools-Options-Environment-General-Use Direct2D to disable it.
Hi! I have already installed the newest version of WhiteStarUML and begin to use it. When I choose any of approach in a new project and create a new Use Case diagram, the pictures/icons of Actors and Use Cases don't appear. What can be the problem? I have Windows 8.1 Pro x64, and just updated the system. Microsoft Net Framework 4.0!

yo Janusz! cheer up! I am not a heavy nor usual user of UML (more of a BA) .... but I did learn about starUML about 10 years ago when looking for free and simple apps... then I totally discared it (the old 2005 version as useless, using boUML then which was never too good) ... this year I made the search again and found about your project... what can I tell you... this is great, you moved the project forward into the year 2018, thank you very much.. that is already priceless. and eventhough i have...
First make sure you are using the 32 bit version of WhiteStarUML. Also pay attention to not run the program as administrator as it may block plugins for security reasons.
How to generate class diagram using reverse engineering from java code?i cant find any options
I have the same problem in v5.1.9.0. PS WhiteStarUML is my favorite UML editor (earlier StarUML).
In the 64 bit compilation of the 5.9.1.0 version of the product, the code generation (except ERD) has vanished again from the Tools menu. The 32 bit version seems complete w.r.t. this aspect, however.
Cleaned example ERD diagram
Fixed problem with saving project while typing in Documentation Editor
Cleaned disabling autosort in model tree
It seems that this is a problem with the tree view control in the Model Explorer (Virtual Tree View). I recompiled it with the latest sources from GitHub. It looks stable now on my computer. This build can be found in WhiteStarUML-5.9.0.1-Win64.zip.
It looks like an issue with showing diagrams on faster, multicore machines. It is quite elusive and I cannot reproduce it on my laptop with two cores so I cannot say yet if it is a bug in the code or external GUI libs. For now it seems that the build 5.8.6 and earlier ones are not affected by this problem.

I have the same issue. Everytime I launch the WhiteStarUml.exe I need to acknowledge/close 4 times the access violation dialog box. Only after this "welcome" step it works fine. To me it is that some of the environment is really dated, although the author did great work towards modernizing and integrating the whole into modern Windows editions.

Btw, as this is an open source project (even being a fork itself) anyone can fork it anywhere, no need to ask any questions.
I understand, thank you. :)
You're my hero! Thanks a lot. I just did a double click on the arrow instead of checking the properties...
Take a look at the Properties Panel and make sure you are not mixing transition name with guard condition. The latter one can only be specified through Properties and its syntax is not validated.
Hi, I'm completely new to WhiteStarUML (or StarUML for that matter) and I'm right now struggeling with some syntax. I try to create an activity diagramm with a decision. I put the arguments on the arrows exiting the decision-diamond, that works kind of fine as long as I use EQUAL (==) and AND (&&). But I can't find the syntax for OR, NOT, NOT EQUAL or brackets ( () [] {} ). I always get an error like "Enter syntax correctly" followed by something like "closeSquareBracket" or "Read: !" I can't find...
If you search GitHub you will find an already existing fork of this program. Not surprisingly it had not generated much interest neither from its initial forker nor other contributors. I think that the principal problem is that this project is not friendly to casual contributors and generally open source development model due to its overall complexity (roughly half of million of lines of code will all plugins) and the price tag of the development tools. The place where the project is hosted matters...
Is something like this feasible? worth doing? GitHub supports both Git and SVN. I'm just a random developer wondering what the author of this project thinks, p.s. The reason I'm saying this is as a contributor to multiple projects I suspect that there might be more developers willing to contribute to this one as many developers nowadays are hosting their projects on GitHub and personally, I find GitHub more pleasant to work with than sourceforge.

Hello everyone, I'm currently writing a Matlab-script, that creates a class-diagram automatically and I have a problem. The Generalizations are created before the diagram is, so that their Views are created instantly when adding the classes to the diagram. I have all the Generalization-objects and all Class- and ClassView-objects, but how do I get the GeneralizationView-objects?
Java is supported up to version is 1.5 so try rather constructs like String[].
I tried to reverse engineer som java and it failed on this particular row. protected String doInBackground(String... args) { That on WhitteStarUml v 5.9.0.0 and the error message is as follow: [10:07:50] Starting Java reverse engineering. (1 files) [10:07:50] Syntax error ( C:*.java ) Description : Unrecoverable Parse Error Location : 150Line 47Column [10:07:56] Java reverse engineering has been completed successfully. //ToyShot
There were various issues like this one: http://sourceforge.net/p/whitestaruml/discussion/general/thread/6f58350c/ Looks that fixing that problem introduced a glitch and saving still may have some undesirable effects. However I believe that currently there is no need for compulsory saving as the documentation editor state is stored once the cursor leaves the editor. If you still feel pressed to save the project just make sure that the cursor is outside the editor without clicking anywhere. Also it...

Hi! The document field always was a little bit tricky. In previous versions (before 5.9.0.0 64bit) things were suboptimal but getting better. In doubt you could press CTRL-S (save) to surely save your work. But now in 5.9. try this: Write some text into the documentation field and then press CRTL-S. You will see that everything will be cleared (or better said: the previous content will be restored)! To save your documentation it is obligatory to first focus another item. Do you really think this...
great ! I've already update to 5.9 but I'm just curious about what could change during usage :) Thanks for your response.
The versions 5.8.7 and 5.9 are mostly related to internal code cleaning like proper closing handles after spawning external processes (i.e. during documentation generation). They also incorporate updates of third party libraries. But if you are happy with 5.8.6 an upgrade is not necessary.
Hi Jans (is Jans your firstname ? hope so, else apologize me) I would to know difference between 'old' 5.8.6.2 release and 'new' 5.9.0.0 ! I've searched everywhere (even readme, etc) but I found no information. Thanks a lot ! David
Thank you for your detailled instructions. The fact is that it works this morning (without re-installation) although I had tried many and many and many times before. I don't understand what have changed in the environment. Thank you anyway for your help, and sorry for the trouble. I appreciate the time you took for answering. Have a good week. Eric
Paste may be disabled because earlier copy fails for some reason. For clean reinstalation first uninstall WhiteStarUML. Next as administrator run regedit.exe and expand the tree branch HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WhiteStarUML. To minimize risks you can just rename it to i.e. WhiteStarUML_old. Then install WhiteStarUML again. You should see the new Registry key as well. Hopefully it will clean any misconfigurations.
Impossible to paste, whatever the way (the "paste" menu stays grey as if it did see any "copy" before). OK for reinstalling, but can you tell me what do you mean by "with deleting the Registy key HKCU/Software/WhiteStarUML" ? I am not very confortable with this type of operation and I would be sure not to loose all my work. Do you think you can help with some instructions ?
As another sanity check you may try to copy and paste into the same diagram. Another option to check is copying using the context menu: right click - Edit - Copy. If there are still problems you might just reinstall the program with deleting the Registy key HKCU/Software/WhiteStarUML
I tried with a new empty project but still it does not work. When I drag&drop it works of course. I could avoid the problem using drap&drop, but it does not help really. For my need is to compare two versions of a set of architectures : thus I need to duplicate diagrams and then slightly modify copies. I would like to avoid rebuiding complex architectures on copies each time. Any idea on how to solve the problem ?
