Btw. Is there a demo deploy planned for today? I would love to see Sjoerds
design and the lastminute enhancements I made to come online.

Hmm, don't know if this is the preferred way. I checked the current config
and the  SessionFactory is set to create the database indeed. This does mean

Like we talked about; I don't think this is a good idea. It's indeed simpler
for first-time usage, but this does pose a nice security hole. You'll see
that people are not inclined to changed the defaults after everything is
setup and this leaves a lot of webical instances (assuming interest will
pick up :)) with a default user/password...

I will strip the bootstrap from the release as it is not needed. I

the new template, had not seen it before!

[Webical-developers] release 0.2?

Hi all,

Well, after a lot of testing today, i finished packaging the release 0.2 
:) The package contains the new Webical style and i wrote a readme with 
install instructions.
After some dog food eating 
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eating_one%27s_own_dog_food, a lesson from 
Zoran :) ) and of course some serious final testing, i will hopefully be 
releasing it tomorrow.

The people who follow the wiki may have noticed i added a fifth 
increment to the project 
(http://www.webical.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/Developers#Increment_V). I 
hope to start the first Ajax POC tomorrow, if school doesn't pull me 
away from coding with their paperwork :(

Good idea. Hiding the link could be as simple as creating a new maven
profile (just like the one for the demo site) with an different html file
for the basepage where the link is hidden. Stating that the ajax-part suck
goes a bit far by the way :)

Cool. Another option would be a nice google maps integration. There has been
some renewed activity in the gmap2 wicket-stuff

Hi all,

There are some things that IMO need to be done in order to get this 
whole Webical thing going again:

1. Development time: well, that's taken care of with our new intern 
Mattijs :)

2. Do a (non-AJAX) webical-0.2 stable release ASAP. This release should 
be dead-easy to install (for anyone with a little MySQL and Tomcat 
experience). By removing the 'Enable ajax (expirimental)'-link we can 
prevent people from thinking the app sucks ... everyone clicks that link :(
The AJAX part sucks -  that's true - but the accessible version really 
works!
For Func. this will be a dog food release (webical.func.nl anyone?)

3. Spread the webical-0.2-stable-word everywhere and 'tease' with the

I'm an intern at Func., who started the Webical project. In the next 6
months i hope to make some improvements on the Webical project,
especially on the AJAX part. To make it more "juicy" as i read on the wiki.

I still have to get to know the project, hopefully with some help of Ivo
and Zoran. But I'm looking forward to my first commit :)

[Webical-developers] Status update

Hi,

It's been quiet on the list lately, but development is still in progress.
I've mostly been busy working on the hibernate layer in webical. It kept
giving problems like NonUniqueObjectExceptions, LazyInitializationExceptions
and really weird lockups without any explanation. I've tried to solve this
while still reusing the Spring DaoSupport and other facilities, but it
wouldn't behave properly so I've ditched it together with the
OpenSessionInviewFilter. The setup is now a lot simpler. A dao
implementation subclasses a general class (BaseHibernateImpl) with all kinds
of support methods (much like HibernateDaoSupport). The sessionmanagement is
based on an aspect and an annotation. Each method marked with the
@Transaction annotation is wrapped with the necessary code to setup and
flush the session. It seems to work really good and its simple to avoid all
the before mentioned problems by keeping the marked methods really simple
and small. The daos are still to be cleaned up a bit, but it seems a step in
the right direction.

Other recently added things:

   - Jetty and webdav-servlet integration in the unit tests. Now we don't
   need internet to run the unit tests. Jetty is started with a clean webdav
   root before each test. This also means no more failures because test ran

I vote for the 2nd variation where the W is also the bookmark thingy. At 
first glance I disliked it, but after a second or 3 I recognized it 
(especially on the total layout page) and got this kind of 'aha-erlebnis' :D

I think if the corners on the right side would not be rounded but sharp 
instead, it would be more recognizable. And maybe the pages in the diary

documentation in it, helps a lot in rewriting it in java.
