Hi, will there be support for the new Edge browser in Win10?

Yes, once I upgrade to Windows 10. Or possibly sooner if I get it working in a VM.

I've attached a test build here with support for Edge. If you (and anyone else interested) could give it a try and let me know if it works OK for you, I'd appreciate it. In particular, I don't know how well it works on different language versions of Windows.

Hi Alex. I tried the test version of the plugin and it doesn't seem to be working correctly unless I'm doing something wrong. I'm in the Edit Auto Type Item window and I selected the "Match against the URL of a page shown in a web brower" dropdown but there are no entries to select from. I have two tabs in the Edge browser open. I can see the open application and the window title using the "Match against the title of a window" option in Keepass. I'm running Windows 10 Pro English version. The URLs display correctly if I'm using Chrome on Windows 10.

Thanks for trying it and reporting back. I'm noticing some strange effects where sometimes instead of getting a URL, it gets the text "Search or enter web address" - did you see that, or was it just blank? It seems that clicking in the address bar in Edge can change the behaviour, which is weird.

It might prove more tricky than anticipated to add Edge support if it's going to be unpredictable. I'm going to try another approach over the weekend and see if I get any more success.

OK, take two. This one uses a hybrid approach between UIA and window handles that I think can reliably find the IE frame within the Edge metro app wrapper. One issue I found was difficulty determining which the visible tab was. Other tabs become unloaded when not active, but not immediately, so after switching tabs it is possible to get confused about which one is the active one (as they are both listed as visible, enabled windows!).

So, I think this is working well enough now, but it really needs lots of testing on as many different systems as possible.

Alright I tried the latest version and it seems to be working fine now with the Edge browser. One thing I notice, and maybe this was the case before, but it only returns the URL for the active window in the browser if I have multiple tabs open. I'm assuming that's expected behaviour. I switched the windows a few times and it didn't have any issues showing the right URL in the drop-down list.

    Great, thanks!

Yes, the behaviour has always been to only obtain the URL for the active tab in each window, this is the same for other browsers too. It is the URL it would use if you auto-typed into that window.
