I tried creating a new user with the Samba Login bit off and the user got home dir got created fine with files in their home directory, no cyrus authentication error, and the post user creation script ran fine. Looks like a problem with my Samba setup - the objectclasses have changed in my LDAP config so there might be the problem with some of my LDAP groups imported from the old LDAP setup. Not sure why I was having all the errors and issues seemingly unrelated to Samba though? Murray |

I presume you have the 'Copy files into new home directories from' option on the Module Config page set to /etc/skel ? - Jamie |

Hi Jamie, Another problem I have come across using 1.263. When I create an LDAP user the files/dirs in /etc/skel are not copied to their home directory. I have tried both putting /etc/skel in the LDAP Users module or reading the setting from the Users & Groups module and it fails in both cases. If I create a local Unix user using the Users and Groups module it works fine. Murray |

I (selfishly and otherwise) think compatibility is a good idea... let me know if there's anything I can help with. It would be great not to have to send our domain owners to one interface for mail and another for web stuff. (Since it's such a minority entertainment, note I'm not pushing the Majordomo 2 front...!) |

There is actually a setting on the Module Config page of the Majordomo module to control the default permissions on those files. Unfortunately some mail servers require them to be group-writable, while others cannot handle it! That's why I made the permissions user editable.. - Jamie |

When creating a new mailing list, the subcriber's file (the file containing the email addresses of all the subscribers) is created as mode 664. This causes sendmail to complain, stating that it won't use it because the file is group-write-enabled. It would be better if the file were to be created 644. -Nigel |

Gee... wouldn't you know it.. the only server I looked on didn't have the pull-down of mirrors.. the rest do. Odd as they are all on the same version. I must have something 'stuck' (wouldn't surprise me on that one installation) which didn't allow the update to the download/proxy module. Nevermind.. John Hinton |

It sort of sounded like there was going to be a selection pulldown or something in the module. And if I understand this right, this will cause Webmin to attempt to use that selected mirror and if unavailable it will try another one? Also, I see beside default, UNC? Does this mean University of North Carolina? If so, that would be very close, but they do run slow many times. The price for being one of the first in the world, to serve to the world. With 3000+ users already using use...@do... as their login (instead of username.domain) we would rather try and keep it like that. Is there any way to have dovecot do some kind of re-write on the username the user enters when doing IMAP? Kind of like a Postfix virtual user map? Hi, I am using virtualmin with Dovecot. What do you mean that how to use Dovecot with Virtualmin ?! Normally it is working cause the Virtualmin users are always normal unix users and as Dovecot point of view there is no diffrence between Virtualmin users and normal Unix users. Therefor if you install the Dovecot on your unix machine it can deal with the user's mailbox ( or maildir depend on your MTA configuration ) like any other users. As an example if you have a domain like example.com in your virtualmin then the Mailboxes under this domain will have a unix user like this : in...@ex... ---> info.example ( This style can change in virtualmin it self ) so when you want to connect to the pop3 or imap server your username will be info.example with the password and you will be able to check your email from Dovecot or any other standard POP3 servers.
