The long-awaited webmin version 1.000 is now available for download from http://www.webmin.com/ and mirror sites. New features in this version include : * Added the Linux Firewall module for configuring iptables * Renamed the old PPP Usernames and Passwords module to PPP Dialin Server and added support for configuring mgetty and setting PPP options * Added the Voicemail Server module for configuring vgetty * Improved Irix support for NFS, Disks and Filesystems, Quotas and File Manager * Added ports to Redhat 7.4 and UnitedLinux 1.0 * Added support for JFS filesystems * Lots of other minor bugfixes and features Also available is Usermin 0.950, which includes POP3 and MH folder and inbox support to the Read Mail module, and the ability to restrict access to modules by user or group. The simplest fix is to edit /etc/webmin/miniserv.conf and remove the syslog=1 line, then start webmin with /etc/webmin/start - Jamie |

I have tried to upgrade to the latest Webmin v.980 =20 But it Crashes when it tries to restart. RedHat 7.3 It shows an error: in resolving Hostname in miniserv.pl line 169 Any ideas would help! New features in this version include : - Fixed a serious security hole that allows a remote attacker to login to Webmin as any user! - Added new Security Sentries module for configuring portsentry, hostsentry and logcheck - Added support for editing EXT2/3 file attributes to the File Manager - The Cluster Software Packages module can now transfer large packages much faster to remote servers also running Webmin 0.970 - The Network Configuration module now supports SuSE 8.0 Because of the serious security hole fixed by this release of Webmin, all users are suggested to upgrade as soon as possible. Thanks for Keigo Yamazaki of LAC Computer Security Laboratory for discovering this problem. Also available is Usermin 0.910, which fixes the same problem. Hi Webmin users, I've just found out about a security problem with the System Documentation (man) module that allows any user who has access to it to run commands as root. Anyone who has granted access to this module to untrusted users should install the update from http://www.webmin.com/webmin/updates.html in order to fix the problem. - Jamie |
