I waited a bit, then I stopped Apache. The Monitor panel > acknowledges that Apache is no longer running. I wait 2min. There are two settings to check. The time before an email is sent and the number of failures before an email is sent. I think by default, it is set to not send a notice on the first failure but on the second time in a row when there is a failure. So, if you have the time to check set to 2 minutes (I assume you changed the cron schedule from the default 5 minutes to 2 minutes?), you'll need to wait 4 minutes if skipping the first failure is set. This is really a good idea as you never know when a check is going to be made. It can happen in the middle of a restart of apache for instance. So, skipping that single event failure keeps you from spamming yourself and helps you to know that when you get a notice, it is for real. Also, it looks like Jamie is up and around now. He will be able to shed more light on this I'm sure. John Hinton > During > this time, I am watching maillog. No new logs, nothing.
