Okay, I tried a test again. Sendmail works fine. So I changed the settings back to the original (smtp-server.nycap.rr.com, sending to my Gmail, etc). I waited a bit, then I stopped Apache. The Monitor panel acknowledges that Apache is no longer running. I wait 2min. During this time, I am watching maillog. No new logs, nothing. I don't think it's even trying to send an email here, so I don't think this is a problem with mailing.
