Hello All:
I am praying and hoping by posting this synopsis of the =
plethora of problems we have been encountering with Webmin that some of =
you may recognize one or more and have some suggestions a workaround or =
possibly a fix.=20
Site Configuration
135 systems split between St. Pete Florida and Minneapolis St. Paul.
Systems are all Solaris based and are a mix of 8, 9, and 10.
Webmin Master =3D Solaris 9, Webmin 1.350 and is located in Florida.
All systems have Webmin installed with various versions, but mostly 1.350.
Problem 1.
I am still fighting the infamous Invalid RPC Login error which seems to =
come and go on different systems. This week I delved deeper into this =
problem than ever before. Here is what I found:
This error occurred most times on a Solaris 8 system regardless of what =
Webmin release was running.
On the Master Webmin server I found a discrepancy in the /etc/webmin/server=
s/<host#.serv file. On the systems in the cluster that did not have the =
Invalid RPC login error, they did have a line that read "realhost=3D" as =
opposed to the systems that did have the Invalid RPC login error their =
files were missing that line.=20
I manually added the "realhost=3D" line to the systems that reported the =
Invalid RPC login error. I then stop Webmin on those systems reporting the =
Invalid RPC login error, I then removed their /var/webmin/sessiondb.pag =
and sessiondb.dir files, I then restarted Webmin and the error went away. =
I also tried just stopping Webmin and removing the /var/webmin/sessiondb.pa=
g and sessiondb.dir files and then restarting Webmin. The error still =
occoured. The question is why is the "realhost=3D" line missing from these =
system and is it the culprit?
problem 2.
When sending files via the "Cluster Copy Files" routine, Webmin will =
report the same completion code, like 8, for all systems. However, if you =
go and manually check the systems, some will have not received the file. =
Also it would be really nice if there was a guide or a document that =
equated all Webmin return codes to English so that we humans can at least =
have a shot a figuring out what is going on.
problem 3.
Large File Transfers. I have been unsuccessfully trying to deploy a mere =
23mb file to clustered systems both locally and remotely. The copy will =
fail every time. However, in some cases Webmin will report the file was =
successfully transferred. However, after checking the system manually, the =
file is not there.
Problem 4.
When specifying post copy command options on a Cluster Copy command, will =
sometimes work and other times will fail. Below is an example of the post =
processing commands that failed and that were successful.
cd /tmp; chmod 775 /tmp/patch_script_8910; ./patch_script_8910 =
<----Worked
chmod 775 /tmp/patch_script_8910; cd /tmp; ./patch_script_8910 =
<-------Failed
In closing, any and all help is desperately needed and will be greatly =
appreciated.
Respectfully;
Mark K.
