It is acceptable (and interestingly enough, customary) to change this sym-link to whichever actual perl distro you choose. So, feel free to: rm /usr/bin/perl ln -s /usr/local/bin/perl /usr/bin/perl Of course, the bad news is that if you have installed any perl modules to the Solaris perl libraries (in /usr/perl5), you will have to re-install them to the new perl paths.
