I've spent hours trying to figure this out with no success. No matter what I do I cannot get a user to login to their own ftp directory using VirtualMin. I've tried on two different servers one Fedora Core 3 and another Red Hat 9.0. I am unable to log in as anyone other than the user created for the site. I'm thinking this has something to do with the Valid shell option, because if I give the user a valid shell then they can log in but I'm not sure. Anyone have any idea? What I'm really trying to do is create a directory that user can upload to and not download form and another that they can download from and not upload to. I've even edited the proftpd.conf and added <LIMITS> to directories, but they are simply ignored.
