Hi all, The Webmin book that I've been working on for the past two years is entering a new stage of its life in that it is going into the final stages of copy-editing at No Starch Press in preparation for printing in December. I've just posted what is pretty much the final draft of the book in both HTML and PDF. I'd like to ask anyone with any knowledge of any of the subjects it covers to take a look to make sure I haven't made any egregious errors that would lead people astray. So, if you know Apache or Sendmail or Postfix or BIND or Wu-FTPd with some authority, how about pointing a critical eye towards the latest version and letting me know if you find any errors. It is too late at this point to add any substantial content, but glaring omissions that will lead to problems for newbies should and can be fixed if I hear about them quickly. Nitpicks are also welcome, with regard to grammar, spelling, links, images, etc. I know a few images don't match the text (quite a few of them are place holders until I have time to finish updating them). There are literally only days left for any serious changes to get into the book from me, so if you have complaints, I've got to hear them now or we'll just all have to be at peace with them forever. It's getting the touch of a proper editor for the next couple of weeks, but let's not count on them catching technical errors. Anyway, the new version is here: http://www.swelltech.com/support/webminguide-1.0/index.html It is still reachable in the old location, but your browser might be caching an older version and the chapter links have all changed. PDF is here: http://www.swelltech.com/support/pdfs/webminguide.pdf The PDF is ugly, I know. I've converted the book to XML DocBook, and the tools just aren't as good as they ought to be yet. The long awaited-tutorials are completed, and it would be great if folks would try them out to make sure they work for you. Thanks, and enjoy. -- Joe Cooper <jo...@sw...> Web caching appliances and support. http://www.swelltech.com |
